For geometry reasons I'm being forced to use my 273 rockers instead of the crane rollers I have... Crane no bought out by comp no longer sells the adjusters with the locking nuts... Everybody's out I've looked for them .
I don't know if I can just bugger up the threads on some adjusters so they get more stiff or what..??
If anybody's tried something that worked I'd sure like to know...

Two thin nuts stacked will hold adjustment as well as or better than a locking nut.

Someone here made or had the rockers spot faced for a lock nut.

But will they thread onto the factory adjuster screw?
Where is the "interference"? Is it the threads on the screws, OR the rockers?

If you use a lock nut, there's no need for interference.

Do your homework here at FABO. There's a lot of information about 273 rockers and how to fix them. I have a couple that the new adjusters loosen up a bit but not enough to cause any issues. They quiet down when it get's warmed up good. Now, a lot of these are sales and wanted threads but just scroll on by those. Search Results for Query: 273 rocker arm | For A Bodies Only Mopar Forum

The interference is in the rockers. You can pull them off the shaft and wrap them with a hammer to tighten the adjuster screw. And yes, the threads can be worn through 50 years of adjusting but the adjuster threads are softer than the rocker threads.

If you add locknuts you need to spot face the contact surface parallel to the adjuster nut. Like I said, there is info here on FABO bout that. A machine shop can do that.

Thanks Rob, I've seen the Crane screws all sold out, I "***"umed that the locknuts were sold out as well?
See Karl's link above to the Mancini adjusters and nuts.

I looked a minute on Summit but didn't find any. So much isn't produced or on back order now days.

I called comp or Holley or whoever they are now they're all owned by the same people. Of course I got some kid who pretty much let me know that they're not going to be making more in all likelihood now that comp bought out crane...

For $120 plus shipping I'd like to just make what I have work. I've got lots of extra stock adjusters maybe lay one on its side on an anvil and smash the threads with a hammer a little bit..?..

I agree.

Take the rockers and put them on your anvil on the bottom corner and gently tap the opposite bottom corner with a hammer. You only want to close the bottom side of the holes just a very small amount. That'll do it.
