Hi everyone,

I've been looking around this site for a couple of months reading and learning new things. I bought my Dad's 1968 Barracuda September 15, 2021. It is a complete car and not perfect, but it runs and drives. He bought it May 15, 1991 with 99,930 miles on the odometer. It has a /6 with a 904 trans. It was originally from San Diego, CA. It now has about 106,*** miles on it. I bugged him for a couple years to get it out of the barn and drive it. I helped him drag it out of the barn and got it running on July 5, 2021. It needed a new brake M/C, and the right rear drum was locked up. I was surprised that it started and ran with only a few simple issues to fix (stuck carb float and bad ballast resistor). I've always been a Ford guy and have owned a few Mustangs since 1990. MOPARs are new to me, so I have a lot to learn. They are cool!

Thanks!

I looked at my Dad's notebook and saw that the last entry was: "5/5/05 fill tank 6068". So, it sat in the barn for 16 years with 106,068 mi.

It's in good shape...looks to be original maybe one Maaco paint job on it...and I say that because it looks like it may have had a vinyl top at one time...a guy in High School hd a 67 with a vinyl top..blue also but i dont think it was that same shade, had more silver in it if that makes sense. Its amazing i can still picture that car, the idiot rolled it and totaled it...

Welcome from Blaine, MN. FABO has all the parts and info you'll ever need to keep that car going forever. Very nice car by the way. Where in Minnesota are you located?

Welcome from Farmington MN

Wow a Slant 6 with Auto on the floor, Console and Bucket Seats.
Like that a lot.

Thank you everyone. My dad posted on FABO Facebook about a month ago. I'll get a pic of the data tag and VIN. I don't know how to decode this stuff. I haven't found the build sheet.

It has a been repainted once before my Dad bought it. Poor paint job and some body work on the left rear quarter... over spray on a few trim pieces and the underside of the door handles and license plate light lens. I wonder if it had a black vinyl top. I think that would look good.

There are a ton of references and discussions in here on VIN and Fender Tag decoding. These are a couple of sample sites. Others may have other references

Plymouth. I swear I saw your car a few weeks ago on 610 going West and I was going East to Coon Rapids.

I went to a car show by Elk River about then, but I don't think I was on 610. My buddy is in Plymouth and he has a really nice 62 Oldsmobile 88 that you might have seen around there. He's always around cruising.
