So yesterday I called Oreilles for an ecu and they said they had one and it was $28.99. I found it on their web page and it was a chrome looking box but said made in China, figured ok I'll try it.
My wife had to go by there and said she would pick it up for me, I said ok lol
She brings this thing home and it's blue not chrome and says made in Taiwan, ok well whatever.
Now the weird thing happens, I shook it, I don't know why but I shook it and heard something. I put it next to my ear and shook it again, sounds like a maraca.
WTF?!?!? This thing sounds like there is sand in it...............back it goes tomorrow.

I put a hi-rev 7500 from Jegs on mine. Their ad SAYS made in USA, but we've had members here who say otherwise. It runs good so far.

I don't know. If it rattles I would return it. That is yet another one that uses a "fake" transistor for appearance. Do you have an old box? Use a 4 pin or other GM HEI module, and "if you must" clean out the box and mount the module inside

It says made in Taiwan. That should be better quality than made in China...

I bought a real chrome box from Halifax Hops a couple months ago. I suggest you contact him to see if he has another.

Probably stones what they do is put crushed quartz or glass before they fill it with epoxy to make the epoxy go further must be some loose ones opened a couple up other companies use the method on different modules the epoxy is now up to $600 for 20 kg kit

the quality of the master pro parts (especially the ignition parts) from oreilly's is very poor. when I worked at oreilly's, master pro ignition parts were some of our most returned items. oreilly's still offers a standard brand part #lx101 and I have had good luck with them in the past. the downside is the standard cost three times as much as a master pro.

I can't say today but yesteryear Standard products were the best.

Alot are filled with silica to act as a dessicant and sve on the potting. There are a ton of junk ones out there. Most mopar are Autorized reproductions, made????? Here we beat the hell out of ID ing and explaining ECU's FYI. If needed I only deal with "real" USA made ones with TO3 transistors not chips inside that overheat.
The better ones made today seem to be the FBO and the RE hi-rev boxes.

Didn't someone here cut one open and find that it did have sand inside?

Look near the end of that link tons of different ones cut open.

Now hang on a second. Don't give Ehrenburg credit for those boxes. He doesn't make them or have a copyright. Jegs sells the exact same box......."WHEREVER" that sumbitch is made. LMAO. Here it is at Jegs.
JEGS 40805: Blue Ignition Control Unit 7,500 RPM - JEGS High Performance
I got mine from Amazon, since I was able to put it on the Amazon card. At the time, it didn't have anything on there about being a "Hi Rev" box, but I'll be sumbitch it came in a Jegs box and that's what it was. Jegs uses purt near the same description Ehrenburg uses in his ebay ad. Ray, do you know who makes them? I've tried to find out ans crapped if I know. lol It ain't Eherenburg, I do know that.

Prob overseas looking at the high fake TO3 transistor, I have heard rumors there was a bad batch of them made, not positive. Would love to get a junk one to open up and see what is inside. Prob a GM 4 pin. @Stephen Hotz will be making them soon, definitely a need for them out there. I have been sending him bad "cores" to work with for a while.

Have to watch that alot of the mopar looking ones have a sticker "replaces P/N xxxxxxx"

Taiwan is better than China- That's my experience anyway. I just bought the Mancini Box and it works great!
