Search finds a lot of info on non-AC heater box removal but nothing on factory AC box removal. Other than the obvious condenser lines for the AC and the drain tube, is it the same process noted in postings? (J-hook, top cable removal, etc.?)

On an air conditioned heater box you can pull blower from under the hood, non air conditioner you have to pull the front off the heater box and take the squirrel cage off the blower motor. I have a 74 duster and added air conditioner, had to enlarge hole on firewall to get bigger fan in place

Ok so the process is the same but you need to pull the blower off the firewall before dropping the box? Sound right?

I thought the motor came out with the a/c unit, because of the squirrel cage. The a/c distribution vent comes out, then the Heater, then the a/c box with the evaporater and hoses. I have mine all apart right now, took pictures but will be interesting to reassemble.

I would love to see those pictures if you could post them. Just so I can see what I have coming.

Thanks,

I rebuilt mine also ,and i have problems with it blowing air through the A/C unit ,not sure what i did wrong

Search for my Duster for my Daughter thread. It was a 72 Duster but we used a 73 AC system on it. Fully documented the box rebuild somewhere in the 70+ pages.

Not sure what pictures you want. I have one of the firewall, the a/c unit was disassembly on the table. I have trouble posting pictures on this site. So can not guarantee them. What exactly would you like to know? The under dash vent is pretty easy, just a couple of fasteners on each side. J hook, yes, brn ground wire , controls and vac lines. It was all pretty much straight forward except the a/c box. There are 2 nuts towards the center of the firewall, top, there was undercoating on it and just couldn't see what was holding the unit in. When it's out , you can take your own pictures and get the renewal kits from Detroit Muscle.
I suspect if you have air coming out of area not selected, vac line crossed? I expect to have many issues too, as I took this apart last February!

Also did you check the vacuum motors? The one on the top will not switch from floor to vents if it leaks
