Dad special ordered his 62 from the dealer so he could get the 383... Dealer stock back then had 318's... He special ordered it so he could get the biggest engine available...

Then after dad took delivery of his, they offered the 413... :mad:

The dealer that my dad bought his Fury from had a great mechanic named Ronny Jones... He would tune it up when dad came back home to visit from college so dad could run with the "city boys"... Dad went to college in a small town on the west side of Illinois near the border of Iowa called Monmouth... Ronny kept dad's Fury running great...

One day back at college, dad raced a Chevy with a 409 and lost, but not by much - gave him a good run... The guy jumped out of his Chevy and asked, "What do you have in there, a 413"???

Dad said, "No, a 383"... The guy didn't believe him...

Then dad opened the hood and showed him and said, "Ronny Jones tuned it up"... The Chevy guy said, "Ooh, that explains it"...


Ronny was so good at working on engines, he made a bet that he could take an engine apart and put it back together blind folded and it would run and won... He rebuilt a Chevy 327 blindfolded... Whenever Ronny went to the local drag strip, he didn't get to see much of the races because everybody called him into the pits to look at their cars and help them get them ready to race...

We are running crane and had to stop due to wind. 37mph wind

We had similar wind safety protocols at VAFB when we were remodeling SLC6 for the Shuttle.
After the big concrete pours were done I operated the temporary Manlift on the Launchmount Tower.
35 or 40mph was wind cease airborne operations limit.

Little blue box upper right hanging on the corner of the tower is me :lol:.
About 20 officials from the USAF show up one day on a tour and want to got to the top.
Due to the number and elevator weight limits, 2 loads. No biggie I got nothing else to do :lol:.
Second load a very attractive female AF Captain gets in for the tour.
It was pretty breezy that day as were most, but not above the limits.
Dropped off my passengers at the top, close up the landing door, close the elevator and hit the down button.
Didn't get 5' and the summons bell goes off and back to the top I go.
The lady Captain "Is this tower moving? I feel like it's moving."
"If you focus on a fixed point on the ground it's probably swaying a foot or 2 in each direction, but it's engineered to do so. Don't worry about it." "Get me the F#$% out of here!". :rofl:"No really. It's OK. It's built to do this. Once you get inside you'll never notice it." "NOW!" "Yes Maam." :rofl:
 
What flavor(s)? I’m supposed to get Pfizer #3 this Saturday…
I had my second jab on July 20, since I was not in the US prior to June. Hoping my Doc will approve me to get a booster before I head back to Paradise in late November....:lol:

I had my second jab on July 20, since I was not in the US prior to June. Hoping my Doc will approve me to get a booster before I head back to Paradise in late November....:lol:
Supposed to be 6 months. But probably OK. They say catch it is like having another shot and my doc said go ahead with booster

Yeah. Just shut off randomly at 65 mph. Wouldn’t refire. Acted like it was out of fuel. Already changed the filter. Finally got mad at it and kicked the fing thing and it started right up. Very odd
 
Salvaging the carb and a few other things from my old pressure washer engine. Found this. I figure when the piston and rod broke, it locked up so abruptly, the flywheel kept going and it just sheared right off

Yup! That and a loose flywheel nut. in the event that an engine siezes when running wide open the key shears instead of breaking crankshaft. Eliminates the possibility of a projectile.
