The 65 has 2 screw on ferrules, not a bayonet end in like later years The cut to length will work but dont rely on the staking tool procedure they give you. You cant just whack it with a hammer! You need to set it in a vice and squeeze tip onto cable. I have a later trans and I found the 65 works on that too, its the speedo head that is somewhat unique. Long time memory, ymmv.
