I escaped from the State of Confusion!
How many of you folks live in the mid-west and south that know about this organization? I moved from Calif 17 months ago and knew about the Mid-west NSS but not about the SEG Assn. They're basically nothing newer that 1967, kinda like stuck in the '60s but they have Gas classes like they had when SOME of us were young and even a super stock bracket but completely different than what's going on now in NHRA or even the NSS racers. Good old grass-roots type drag racing, old technology and some pretty fast heads-up racing, of course nothing like today but interesting and somewhat exciting and it won't drain your pockets, check it out!

We were going to build a 67 mopar to run the Northeast Gasser Club. Come to find that you can run a 67 GM, 67 Ford, But Mopar must be 66 and older. They don't want to compete against Mopars . So **** the Gasser clubs.

Great drag racing! I watch it on YouTube all the time. Gassers are my favorite type of drag racing. Those little CID motors are ripping it up! Next would be the Sox & Martin era. 65'

That's pretty screwed up. Like NHRA's bullshit. Wonder what the big deal about '67 Mopars are? I'd love to build a '64.

Hmm that's odd, there was a '67 Barracuda fastback that I've watched run with the Southeast group.

That would suit me just fine, because the early cars are so much lighter.

They're easy to put a big block in and they know they'd get their **** kicked.

Your right Rusty but on a low budget build the 67 and up a-bodies are easier to get the parts for. I believe Their afraid of the mopars. We tried with a 67 valiant and then with a 67 Barracuda. The answer was no by a Chevrolet.

Oh I agree with you. They know the Mopars would kick their asses.

Years ago (probably not much different today, if the truth be known), NASCAR and NHRA were really down on the Chrysler Corp group and came right out front and said 'We don't care about Chrysler cars, there's more Chevies and Fords than those Mopars...more GM fans anyway' or something of that nature. When I started racing in '71 I was talking to a Div. 7 tech about some of the S/S rules (I was a CHERRY BOY, what did I know?!), he basically asked me 'why a Plymouth? Go buy a Chevy and be happy'...screw that, I'd rather have a Rambler. Nonetheless, these gassers are fun to watch, even if they are stove bolts!

They run in my area, I've been to one of the events, and I will be the first to tell you the SEGA is a rich mans playground. Those things might look old school, but they are mega dollars. In the upper bracket, it takes a 50-60k dollar engine to even be top 5.....most of them run Fulton built engines, and it isnt unusual to need at least 2 engines to make a season. Very cool and fun to watch, but to be competitive, you had better be extremely wealthy

I run w/ SEGA. I cant speak to the NE club, but you could technically run a 68-69 A-body in SEGA if you made it appear 67. Most of the nostalgia groups use the '67 cutoff to keep the Camaros out. And you can have a lot of fun w/o a $50k engine. I recently put a link to mine below detailing what it has.

Dragzine feature of my '66

North east gassers won't let 67 a-body mopars in. Only 67 Novas, 67 Mopar b-bodies, 67 fords. They are allowed if they make them look like 66's. Any car with the same body as a 66 is allowed. 67 mopar A-bodies and newer are not allowed.

This coming weekend 5-6 Nov the Southeast Gassers will be at Shadyside Dragway in Shelby NC for the finals of the 2021 Championship Season. There will be over 100 entered cars, all 4 speeds and first to the finish racing. I run a 64 Barracuda and currently building a 67 Cuda to run Super Stock for my daughter. Its not the cheapest form of racing but its not boring. Stop by the pits and say Hey

North East Gassers. No 67 a-bodies. How far north do the South East Gassers cover? Closest track to Pa where they run? Thanks

The closest the SEGA has come to PA is Kil Kare in Zenia Ohio. I will post the 2022 schedule when its released

That’s not true. You can run 67 and earlier. They have also opened up the rules for A/gas cylinder heads for mopar to make them more competitive. Quain Stott is a straight up guy and have had good dealings with him.

Quain is Southeast Gassers (SEGA). I run w/ SEGA, and know for a fact you can run a 67 or earlier. Southeast gassers has nothing to do with the Northeast club he was referencing. The SEGA rules are on their website.
