Easy Run Engine Test Stand

-
Got rest of stuff done this morning, then had doctor's appt.....then back to garage.....got it fired up and timing set..,,,,even after all these years....had two plug wire crossed.
Got to love the simple speedmaster distributor set up...two wires....

water pump is leaking a the seal on the end of the pump.....as you can see the water ,,,,,,those old MP cams with their 28/32 lash setting are really noisey.....probably going to tighten it up a few thousands....

Heck yeah Tony! You're breakin in that stand good!

Engine number 3 should on the stand this weekend.....
410 small block with Wiseco pistons 12 to 1
Scat i beam rods..
eddy ported heads by IMM with 2.055/1.60 valves...
Howards Cam 268/274.....the only thing i could get and had to wait a month for it
Crane 1.5 roller rockers
Victor 340 intake for now...have Super Victor available

Need to remove inter springs on Head in the next couple of days...
This one should make some noise.

Sounds like a goodun. Tony if you don't mind me askin, what are these engines for? Spares for your race cars?

yes...spare for the race cars....or I get bored and have parts laying around....

I am a hoarder of parts....and always looking for deals....someone selling unfinished projects ...bingo...

Looks like there is going to be a delay in running this 410 motor, I got exhaust valves 3 and 5 blowing a ton of air by them while i was taking the inner springs off this morning.....need to pull the head and take to machine shop.

yeah....and the other head has to leaking exhaust valves too....both heads

Going with plan B......got a set of SM that were ported last year.....fresh and clean

the eddy heads taken off have been run hard and put away wet....they had an exhaust valve break off several years ago....but every thing is new in them,,,,,off to the shop they go

dropped Eddy heads off at the machine shop to fix the 4 exhaust valves.....

got the SM heads out.....dusted off....had to remove inter springs on them too...got them bolted on to block....torqued down....dam i am getting weak...
lifters...pushrods and roller rockers back on...valves adjusted.....
need water pump....spark plugs....and intake bolted down.....probably not going to run until Monday got other things that need to be done....

might get this running tomorrow......the little **** kills ya...got thermostat housing cleaned and bolted on...primed the engine....had to go buy some oil as my shelf was as bare as biden....
went to autozone and tried to get some autolite plugs 3922 nope....ended up ordering them from Oreily's suppose to be there by 5 pm today....it is after 6 pm....probably off the coast waiting to get unloaded....lol
I will get engine loaded on to Test Stand in morning.....

did not get it running today....was still waiting on spark plugs...but i found a new set of ngk in the trailer looking for something else....
spend the day putting a new stereo in old 88 D250 as the AM radio died years ago.....now got some new tunes....plus I needed to fix driver side window.....crank and guides needed cleaning and lubing ....need to pop the door panel back on in the morning as I repaired a couple of the clips...

should get the engine on the stand tomorrow.....

well...all hooked up...and put water in it....and...and it is leaking out of the corner of the fricking head gasket..

go home to take a nap.....

took a nap and had a bowl of ice cream.....

I pulled the other heads off and sent them to the machine shop and I reused the MLS head gasket.......trying to save a few bucks....but that is life.

See how i feel tomorrow.....

Actually looks like it is the timing chain cover ...up in the corner under the cylinder head.....

no water in pan as of yet....tearing the front of the motor off now

Nice thing about this expensive toy of mine...I can pull the radiator/fan off the stand and I have full access to the front of the engine....just need to get balancer off and I can see what is going on....

That’s exactly what these things are for. When stuff gets sideways, the stand disassembles quick and easy to get there ASAP. Any other issue is quick to get to.
