The rusty ram

-
Got the bumper back on. I had to knock a few dents out but ended up using the one off the white truck. I also did my diy alignment and swapped the wiper motor out. A few years ago I left the wipers on after getting off work well the rain turned to ice overnight so when I got back in it and started the engine the wipers where on but frozen and it burnt up the low gear I had no delay or low all I had was high and it would never "park" in the correct position. I fixed that today.

Got some work done on the ram today, put the front bumper on,, pulled the bed off replaced the shocks, cleaned and painted the frame. While the bed is off im gonna do the cab corners and rockers. It will be good practice on my bodywork skills i got my lower door skins in the mail if it don't rain i may start on them tomorrow. Trying to decide if I should paint the whole truck or just rattle can the repairs. Lol

Old rusty rams, my cousin just had one give to him 4x4 extended cab 55,000 actual miles, runs fine but rotted to the door handles.
It will make a good parts truck, I know he is going to ask me to haul it, so I will take some pictures when I do.
What I remember of the the free truck years ago, it was super nice, it was my buddies dads, but that was about 10 years ago, and rust never sleeps in the rust belt.

Dang....you're movin along on it! I believe I'd just rattle can the repairs, and ait till warm weather next spring to paint the whole shebang if that's the plan. It will be too cold to paint before long, unless you have access to a warm shop to do it in.

The plan is to paint the dart next spring it would be good practice to spray the truck first to get some time in and get the gun dialed in.

Going thru some colors here are the ones I picked out. I'll post all the colors in another post. Yall free free to pick one.

Nothing wrong with single stage. I use it all the time, its nice when doing an overall job, just shoot and go.
Plus you only spend about 1/2 the time painting on the vehicle. I am getting old, and my hands and arms get tired pretty easy.

Got some work done on the truck today. The rocker, cab corner and door skin is on. I still gotta do the rear door then move to the passenger side. These doors skins are a beoch! The cab corner didn't fit exactly right either but I made it work. I am gonna have to do some body work to make it look better there is a small difference in radius where the corner goes around to the back of the cab. I believe I can make it right tho. I think on the passenger side im gonna cut it shorter and just patch the bottom instead of the whole corner.

I actually like painting black paint. You can SEE it.

Are metallics easy to shoot? That Burgandy Metallic looks like my Lexus color Id like to re-shoot. Just like this color. Is that ~$100 for the gallon, hardner and filter?

A customer has a 98. Diesel.
Body is still solid,he sprays fluid film into doors every fall. And does something in the box wheelwells too.

Just fired up my 94, hasnt run since spring. Think i need to get working on it. 3/4 ton 360 and 4:10 gears. 5 speed manual.runs good, body isnt terrible.

I sprayed some atf all in the inner rockers and the cab before I put the new ones back on. Hopefully it will keep it from doing it again. As many miles this truck has I think these repairs will do it till its end lol I have a 5.9 mag I plan to put in it if the 5.2 ever goes.

The rusty ram is a little less rusty now. Got the drivers side done. I still gotta do some body work at the seams but it everything is welded in place. I cut out a patch for the front fender today too. I got to measuring and the body line radius on the bed is exactly the same as the fender. So I cut a patch out of the driver side bed wheel opening to fix the drivers side fender. I will try to get it welded in tomorrow
