Stop in for a cup of coffee

I am fast approaching my second try at retirement. The first time was an epic fail. While we were financially prepared I was not even close to being mentally prepared. I grossly underestimated the mental stimulation I needed to keep myself sane. I thought sure I could repair farm equipment and what have you and I would not get bored. Epic fail on a grand scale. My brain would not shutoff. I am targeting the fall of 23 and should be much better prepared then. That is the fundamental catalyst for building the firearms training center we are doing now. I can teach full time and be fully engaged in a business that I can develop. May be yet another hair brained idea but we are going for it. We are putting roof on building this week.

On the edge myself, told them I’m retiring and they need to find someone to replace me, they asked when and I told them Monday

Good plan there...

I "transitioned " out of the military to start career #2. I'll hit minimum eligibility next June but I'm in the Catbird seat with this remote employee gig... The commute before was sucking the life out of me.

I was going to wait for Spring because I already get the winter blues but I can't take the craziness anymore. If the people knew the kind of guys we are turning lose everyday only to have them return in a month and then turn them loose again. We have bought them all TV's and pay for their cable and I get reprimanded if I call them stupid

I retired from the PD 14 years ago. The war on whatever was still going strong and the National Guard put me to work for about five years before I hit their mandatory retirement. I took my SS at 62 because I hadn't put much into it. Retirement is what you make it and I've really enjoyed mine so far. As soon as we get this house done and settled in I can return to a "normal retiree life" haha!!

Gettin some breakfast on, then headed out to the Maryland International Raceway for a day of Mopar fun. Racing, car show, swap meet...

I believe in the firearms training center, you will stay busy here in Arkansas/Missouri area, police and the public will be enjoying it very much here in the south
Can't wait to see it and visit.

good on you Pete, enjoy

I did do some numbers crunching and looks like retirement is right after the first of the year. Gonna get some work done on my knees and some Carpel tunnel taken care of....use up all of my sick leave and annual leave and it is then Ya hoooo. Buy Hoppy's camper and head west or North or south
Well first, congrats, albeit prematurely. Second, if you head west, stop by and have a beer. I’m straight west off i70 to Indy, then 45 minutes south right of 65. (Now that they have the exit open, it’s 3 minutes off the exit. Poor Tim had an extra 20 minutes of backwoods driving when it was closed)

You and I retire the same way. Neither of us can sit in a recliner and watch the world go by. Our minds and bodies won’t let us. Not to mention our brides! Hah! We are really looking forward to living at home again. Fargo is fine, and we have made some cash up here but our hearts and families are in Arkansas. See ya soon!

Your new house was a major undertaking for you two but it's a good thing you are able to do it. Get it done while you still can.

Cheese burger in Paradise on the radio

Leaves are in color

Maybe some sunshine this afternoon

May need to ditch the chores later and get the Valiant out

To Willies point I been driving the Demon to work, won’t be long and she will be back on the rack for Winter, several things I want to address now that I got some seat time. I did however get the leaf springs replaced. What a huge difference it made, drives like a totally different car. I got rid of the long shackles, changed the shocks and put in SS leafs on factory shackles. Man o man what a positive change. The stance is a bit more 4x4 than I would like but I got no tires rubbing and she launches straight as an arrow. Once again having quite a bit of trouble with her breaking loose on high side of second and start of third. But that is a problem I don’t mind.

Wait until after Jan 1st so you can get all the free vacation pay over Thanksgiving and Christmas....

Will be 68 in Jan. The only thing I retired from is working for someone else...

Sold my "70 Mustang Mach1 in late '72 due to high test jumping to 44 cents a gal. A year after that, went to work at my first dealer auto tech job, making $2.65 per hour.
