68 Lada Valiant

-
A guy gave me a lada. I filled it with scrap and hauled it to the shredder. Not much left of it,glass was gone, engie was siezed. I have a running skoda 4 cyl from a 245. Late 50’s or early 60’s.

But those cars don't have the mystique of the Lada.

Mystique is purely subjective. Having lived in Europe, seen many Lada’s and driven a couple, I’m not seeing the mystique in them.

I suppose if something is considered neat or difficult to obtain, then that provides automatic mystic. The fact Lada’s we’re not sold in the US is likely another reason why it has mystique.

The mighty Ladas pop up for sale in Canada a bit…but ever since I discovered Lada Life on Facebook…I want one too

Remember the late 70's to 1980 a Duster and RoadRunner were both a F body !
Come to think of it, so TRUE but, they still are not worth Chit for $$$!!! If.... they had come along earlier and IF the fenders and hoods did not rust off before they left the dealer's lot! Maybe.....
Sorry, but I like them, i have built them, sold some, don't want any more...and they, the F crowd is the cheapest of the cheap!
My ha ha would have been better if I said put the RR emblem on the Valiant!!!:steering::poke::poke:

Valiants are my favorite Mopars, and 68s are the best of the best. 2 door or 4 door I love them all.

My 62 Dart More Door, (Yes a B body) found love and went to a new home in Pa last week. I love them personally. The guy drove from N E Pa to S E Tx and back. Point is people like what they like, be it a 62 or a more door or a Lada or whatever. If everyone liked the same model, same color, same whatever, the hobby would be a boring cookie cutter deal!
So I would never put down any car build to the builder. But.. a Lada?? Really!!????:poke::poke::poke:

I had a Fiat 128 sedan that I drove in college, looked like your LADA. Four on the floor and had a throttle control that you could pull out and lock on sort of like a cruise control. Very simple and reliable car.

So as I said in the first post, this is going to be a sloooooow project. I am just trying to be realistic because staffing shortages at my office job are causing overtime like crazy and in the mean time the car sits.

When I first got the car, I had in mind to just get it running no matter how ratty.
But then I started looking at the engine compartment and it really was ratty..... like too ratty.

So I decided to strip and re paint the engine compartment, which is going to add some down time but it's OK.

The new paint looks so rejuvenated compared to the old stuff and it's supposedly the same paint code. The paint on the car looks to be original enamel from ma mopar

Any proper patriot mobile needs a set of rally gauges so I spent some time today stripping this.....68 barracuda dash frame. Direct bolt in gauges. Why not??

This is the slant going in, it's going in as is just to get it running before Christmas.

Then in the mean time I'm going to build another slant for it that will have a super six 2 barrel and some other enhancements.

This slant is a 68 dated engine that came out of a 68 dart parts car.

If you want a communist/socialist Mopar, just get a South American A body and be done with it. Geez, talk about the long way around a short path.
guess you don't subscribe to "the journey is the reward"

Kursplat has a nice 68 more door
thanks to you  guess who she got this one from

looks fun PV, hope the server doesn't eat this thread :D
