174/177 supercharged small block, where to start?

Have you guys got a better pic of it or a link to that housing.

I have no idea who manufactured this one, it was on the set up when I bought it.
I know it does use both large and small gaskets.

Got the engine home safe last night. 14 hour round trip. LOL.

Kinda just mocking stuff up on it now. I’m gonna change the water pump out for an Edelbrock victor pump I have. Smarten up some of the fasteners with stainless ARP 6 points.

Looks good! Are you using studs for blower body to intake?
Unfortunately, no. The studs supplied with this kit were too short, and the nut only went on about half, with just barely a comfortable amount of thread engagement in the manifold, before I ran out of thread… So longer Allen head bolts were used.
I’d prefer studs, who can custom make me a set? Last I checked with ARP, they wanted a THOUSAND dollars…for 4 studs…..LOL.

From your picture it looked like you had studs, I was going to ask for part number. Would be cool to find some. Thanks

Mopardude318, what size belt did you use when you changed to the 2.5" pulley, ran my 144 today, and like yours it didn't register much on the gauge maybe 1.5 psi, swapped over to the small pulley but need a shorter belt.

I used this belt here, see picture. It is still a tad too long I have my belt tensioner adjusted all the way out and to the left.
I can give that PN to the parts store and they can spec me the next shorter one.

How much shorter do you think you'll need, did you need to shorten the threaded rod adjuster as well? And i see gates sell three types of belt, standard, heavy (green belt), and rpm for blower use, can you get away with a standard belt or use the blower belt only.

Not sure really, maybe the next one down 1190. I didn’t mess with the rod adjuster. you might be able to get away with the standard belt, get the HD if ya can.

A question for you all, how does the idler pulley come off of the tensioner bracket? I removed the snap ring, hoping the pulley would slide off the shaft so I could put my 10 rib on there, but it doesn’t move after a hard pull, light tap with a hammer, a pry with a screwdriver, is it pressed on there?

should be a press on. if it was just the C-clip the inner part of the bearing could spin on the shaft

Mopardude, with your 10 rib kit, what did the crank pulley come as, drilled for mopar or just the three bolt holes and did it have a large boss on the back?

I actually had it made locally by a machinist. But that was almost 10 years ago. 6 holes for the standard mopar bolt pattern and a 1” locating boss on the back.

That's a nice looking pulley he turned up for you. Thanks for the insight and pics, reading your comment on useing your brain a bit , it dawned on me to just run a cloth tape measure around the pulleys and an 1190 belt looks to be spot on for 6"- 2.5" pulleys.
Cheers.

Jealous of your lower crank pulley. Wish someone would offer 10 rib for mopar. I thought about buying 10 rib from Holley and having it drilled/machined.

@dodgy

No room in that housing for t-stat. In upper hose for inline stat is an option. I tried 4 housings before I got that one to work and seal.
With the Performance Stainless Steel thermostat housing I used this Stewart Components thermostat. It all fit together just fine. :)
