The absolute dumbest, I have a little dick and I want to show you how I can get my car down a bald *** track or even worse public street or airport strip. When will the stupidity stop and when will the dumbest jerk offs in the racing community realize that this only hurts the drag racing scene even more when needless deaths of spectaters and or drivers happen.

Who was responsible for these children's deaths? The people who put them in harms way. The angry "little dick" comment is childish, and if adults want to do something risky, I'm all for it. Do You get just as angry when 2 children are lost in a rafting accident? How about on a carni ride? Why anyone would place themselves & loved ones on the business end of an event like this is beyond Me, that is on the promoters who allow it, & those foolish enough to engage in it. The tone of Your post is even more harmful to racers, insinuating they are "doing something wrong" for competing at these events, which are usually without incidents such as this...which is why it gets the magnifying glass......and it should. Those holding & organizing these things should have to answer for poor judgement & practices....

There wouldn't be any events if dip ****'s didn't show up to race no prep

There wouldn't be any drownings if dipshits didn't show up with their rafts...
Your obviously one of the no preppers so you keep doing you and when you wad up your car or worse I doubt anyone will care

Well I for one loved to street race, we were all serious and didn't take chances and no one was ever hurt. The main reason is?, you have to be able to drive the car, a ten second car could get beat by a twelve second car because the guy could drive. It was a challenge and we could hang out all night, race and shoot the breeze. No bars, partys, drunk driving etc., just good ole racing.

I personally have never been to, or participated in one of these events but enjoy watching them. I’ve often thought it wasn’t a good idea to have so many folks on the starting line. But IMO it’s all about personal responsibility. Loss of life, any life, is a tragedy. But to blame a track or promotion for this is not right. And if a child’s life was lost, the only blame is on the parents. It’s time for this world to start taking responsibility for our own actions. Common freaking sense, ain’t so common any more.

Yeah well things have changed a bit and now your seeing 7,8 and 9 second cars on that same type surface and as proven by the amount of carnage that we see at no prep events that is past most drivers skill sets

Wasn't blaming the track or the promoters......I called out the stupidity of all those involved in no prep racing

We raced 1/4 and they race 1/8 so the mph isn't way off for the faster cars but I agree, not so much that it's over the drivers heads as they hero drive. Always talking about driving through it, makes for good tv but also wrecked cars. And I hated big crowds of people on the street, I would go home. At the track there are still safety protocols in place and if some dude wants to risk his life and make a show then that's up to him, to me it's no different than nascar and or anything else high risk. I think more people die everyday from being influenced by those retarded *** fast and furious movies than anything drag race related.

They have a local flashlight drags at the airport.
Crowds are kept well away from where the racing takes place.
Sheriff and rescue squad are present.
It an organized pay to race type advent.
You have to show registration and insurance to run.
I was supposed to haul my buddies truck up today, but their was some light drizzle in the area, so the event was canceled.
I normally haul a friends vehicle up, and cook hot dogs for everyone I know and their kids.

The race started out for an outlet for street cars to strut their stuff, but lately some guys have been showing up with cars on slicks, even though it says in the rules no slicks DOT tires.
But they put on a good show, nobody complains. Tube chassis cars, on slicks, street cars not a chance.

You definitely have an Axe to grind over it.... I myself thought initially that there is a level of insanity to it. But this is just a current path in racing which is growing and there is no stopping it at this point. Your best bet is just not be involved with it. I personally have zero interest in being a part of it other than watching it on a video. But there is big money being made with it right now and that is how it usually goes. Risk versus reward.

People get complacent about how life can go. Especially a 3000lb Missle spiraling out of control and someone thinking it's gonna be OK if I am potentially in harms way. Would I take a kid to the big end to watch at a NP event on a half racetrack, nope. Have I had a 7 year old as a passenger in my Bassboat running 70mph, yep. That's just as risky...

Life can hem you up real quick.... Tread lightly...

Well I’m not a saint so I can’t bad mouth others to bad. 47 years or so ago I was a street racer so technically a “no prep” racer. Thank God my car only ran 11’s because we didn’t have the tires they have today. 5 years ago I probably would have said promoting street racing and no prep racing would harm legal track racing but I would have been wrong. When these guys show up at your local track the place goes bonkers. People that never attended races before are now going to see them. If the tracks are smart which ours is they also have a couple jr dragsters and kids racing them. This has lead to new racers in our weekly programs. Now some of these airport drags are an accident waiting to happen which over the weekend did happen and people were killed.

Don't paint with such a broad brush. These one off Airport no preps are nothing like the "Professionally" run events on Discovery. These races draw more spectators than an NHRA Divisional event many times and pay the racers way better than the NHRA .On edit I see Pittsburghracer beat me to the punch

"now your seeing 7,8 and 9 second cars on that same type surface"
I'll agree that the level of performance has become above what We as old school street racers would normally see, usually a car that ran low 10's-high 9's was in the "baddest Dudes" class. Again, these are organized & promoted, & that comes with a higher level of responsibility....& requires better judgement...

I would say that with the decline of people getting out to tracks to watch cars race, this gives another option for people to get interested & hopefully into racing. If no one new gets into racing, then racing is dead very soon. Racing is dangerous sometimes, **** happens, people die sometimes, but on the other end of the spectrum on the good side which way outnumbers the bad it's fun, it's challenging, it's community. On & on

Stupid **** happens no matter what or where the event is. We wouldn't be human if we weren't dare devils.
I guess I shouldn't have pulled my kids on a tube at the end of a 60ft rope at 45 mph. They could have drowned.
They didn't and now they pull their kids at the end of a 60ft rope on wake boards .

No prep is for mental midgets, the racing typically sucks, the crowd is usually consumed by more retards and punks so it's just a place that I choose not to go because I don't enjoy hanging out with idiot **** high schoolers or adult adolescents.

Boy did my Fox local 10:00 news cover this weekends wreck thoroughly. They had a guy from Texas explaining “no prep” racing and the lack of traction compound. He did a great job.
