Morning FABO peeps

So, I have been tracing the wiring harness through my LP27 (GT conv) and upon removing the pocket panels behind (if they were present) the front seats I came across the pink and yellow wires to the pocket panel lights but they were cut on both sides. My question to the collective wisdom on this sub-forum would be, why this might be.

Also, I am missing the trunk light/switch part harness as per attachment. Could this facility be an option for the vehicle (no indication on the fender tag of such) ? Just seems like an odd facility to remove. If I did have the trunk light/switch then where would the light and switch have been placed ? I have a left side deck lid rain channel lip with a hole in it (attached) which I assume would be the switch location so where would the bulb be located ?

More also; Is it just my eyes or do the dark green, dark blue, brown and black wires in the engine bay all look black and don't get me started on deciphering between the yellow and tan tracers. Fun, fun, fun.

The "courtesy" lights in the rear arm rest cover is what you are talking about right?

Why the wires were cut is a mystery, but if all the parts are there you can put it all back together.

The metal tab is there on all A bodies that had it as an option. My 67 Dart Convert did not have that option so no light or wiring. You could buy the parts and add it if you wanted to.

As for wires and colors, the car is 53 to 55 years old, things change color over time. Look at where the wire goes will tel you what it does.

At some point you will be looking under your dash and find a loose blue wire comming from the bulk head connector and connected to nothing. It is for the AC compressor and has no purpose unless you have AC

What year is your dart? Post some photos.

Did the car start off life in Australia?

Hi Dana67Dart + everyone else. Yes, the small dome lights just above the floor pan under the arm rests on both sides. Maybe someone was looking for some privacy whilst on the back seat, who knows. Sure, I'll just join them back up as I found a cut length 12" or so long behind the rear seat. Very odd. Yep, figure I'll just buy the trunk light/switch harness from the connector near the top motor and splice it in. Was tongue in cheek on the wiring colour; I have to battle a dingy garage, crap lighting and like you say 50+ years of road grime. I look for continuity too for confirmation where I need it. My rig is a non-AC car so I can see the empty bulkhead terminals for the motor and compressor and fortunately do not have any wiring hanging in the wind (that I cannot trace from/to something so all good there).

'69 Dart convertible /6 225 (Y2/X1) was imported into Australia in 2017 and I have yet to determine from where yet as it's passed through a couple of owners down here since then. I don't know why as this car is a little ripper, granted with a lawn mower engine but it's 95% or so complete with minimal rot. Am looking forward to kicking off a great little project.

Will get the car out into some daylight this weekend and take some decent photos for you guys.

Sounds great. There are quite a few /6 (slant 6) enthusiasts here on FABO.

Before you connect the wires you might want to trace out the wires and be syre they are not shorted somewhere.

Sounds like you are not new classic cars, so your dart is on good hands.
