What would be the procedure to mount it. ?
Will it fit if i drill the heads for la
Pattern ?

What intake? Crosswind intakes are not terrible and are dual drilled. Is there meat in the LA where it needs drilled? I remember the jig but I thought it was the heads that got drilled...

I remember seeing an article back when the Magnums first came out where they drilled the LA intake straight down at each bolt and then cut some angle shims to go under the bolts. Can't find anything online, but pretty sure it has been done.

Just an idea if you didn't want to drill the heads, or wait for the jig.

Heck it’s not hard to modify an intake with the new bolt pattern as I did mine by hand. We also plugged the holes on a set of my Edelbrock heads with aluminum bolts and faced them off and redrilled them on my buddy’s mill for and Indy intake.

Are you telling me that the magnum head has la and magnum mounting holes from the factory ?

No - look at your Crosswind intake.

Crazy thought....why not just buy the right intake?.....rather than all the drilling and plugging.

You don't drill the heads you drill the intake. The Magnum bolts are vertical.

Dont think drilling the intake works....look at the intake manifold....nothing to support the vertical bolts....the magnum intakes...crosswind or eddy have a boss or reinforced aluminum area to support the bolt...

OK, the intake is dual pattern, when i put it on i dont remember seeing la bolt toles in the magnum head

Yes, true that. I missed the post about modifying a old intake. My bad.

In the article I read they added some block or tubes cut at 45 degrees or something. It would make more sense if I had a picture, but I don’t. And it’s not anything I’ve done either.

Really confused by this thread. Intake is a dual pattern? It’s a crosswind, oh wait it isn’t? If it is a dual pattern, who cares if the head has the LA bolt holes, use the Magnum ones in the intake. Just really confused.

The OP has a old LA Offenhauser intake that he wants to bolt onto Magnum heads. That old intake doesn't have bosses for vertical bolt holes so the heads must be re-drilled to make it work. The Crosswind intake the guys are talking about has bosses for LA and Magnum bolt holes. (bosses for fuel injectors as well)

Creative people can do this drill and tap operation, with the heads still on the engine using some high density foam down inside the push rod runs, a vacuum cleaner, masking tape and some drop cloths.

Carry On . . .
