71 Dart get 408/ Trick Flow Heads....

-
I just placed the intake gaskets on my 96 dakota sport that has the trickfkow heads. I noticed the oil drain holes weren't very big. I am not doing it now. But was wondering if it wouldn't hurt to have the holes made bigger, the next time I have the heads off?
I have wondered about this also. The supply is much smaller than factory also. Which may be a needed improvement as some guys will restrict oil up top anyhow.

So sorry to hear about this Tony. I hope everything else survived. I have the same cam in my 408, but so far so good.

Wow...it was not as bad as I thought it was...I still got 4 lobes that are not flatten...LOL.....the other 12 lifter had to be removed out of the bottom of the cam tunnel...

Damage report.....cam ...and lifters....HV oil pump.....check a couple main bearing....those are being replaced...and the rod bearing too...plus gaskets....

the oil pump was very hard to turn .........alot of metal shaving and pitting...

cylinder walls all look good....no problems with cam bearing....that amazing....

probably strip the block and hit it will high pressure washer.......

Getting this engine repaired and running again has been on the back burner.....going to get it moving forward....Have had MS1266HG main bearings on order at Summit since August with a shipping date of 12-20-21.....Merry Xmas...

Couple of weeks ago I had the stroker crank polished......So needing main bearing I called Scat....and asked them what main bearing were available to use with their crank, telling the tech guy that the Clevite mains were not available, He told me that they been using Speed Pro 120M in their stroker kits....asked him if he was sure...lol....he said he had sold several hundred kits with those main bearings....I am like ****.....I got a set of standard and .010 SP 120M bearing sitting on the shelf...

So i got to get the block to the machine shop to square the deck .....otherwise it is good to go......I ordered a 6468 camshaft from Hughes...dont know went it will show up.....but only one race left this year .....Nov 19-21, the Street Car Super Nationals....I got time....

It's a good thing they "approved" those. Clevites are like non existent.

call Howards too. They grind that camshaft for Hughes.

My guess is....... if you want that thing ready for the last race....... you’ll have to dig a 590 cam out of your stash.

This is not going to make the last race in a couple of weeks.....luckily might get block back in a couple of weeks...lol

Got the second crank back this morning ....polished ......Need to get blocks in the shop......one needs to squared....take that one in 1st...

Moving ahead

Cool, I ran the old 6064 in my 408, it went 6.57 on pump 93 and was done by 6600. Dave told me it was two sizes too big. :wtf:
