Well the 2021 hunting season is officially underway it has been here since October 2nd but I finally got around to going this week. I went bow hunting Friday saw a small 4 point let him walk. And saw several does and a giant after dark. Went back the next morning, which was the first day of muzzleloader I hunted all day from daylight till dark saw a total 14 deer alot of small bucks and 4 does but I missed an absolute giant! The shot was too far it was a little over 200 yards i should have just waited but got too excited. He came in horned a tree and turned around and started walking away from me I should have just let him go but I was afraid he wouldn't come back out so I took the shot. After the smoke cleared he was still standing there looking around and walked away into the woods.i looked for a while then me and my brother and law looked for about 3 hours after dark never found anything. I really hope that I just missed him and didn't hit and lose him. He is a really good buck we have tons of pictures of him on trail cam. Hopefully I'll get another chance at him next weekend. Iv been hunting for close to 30 years and have never missed or lost a deer with a firearm. So this really makes me sick especially the size of him. Oh well I gotta shake it off and go back after him.

If he just walked away and there was no hair or blood, you probably missed. He may come back.

Apparently he has made lots of them lol I saw 9 different bucks 8 were all young 1.5 year old spikes and 3 or 4 pointers. In 2 years they all will be good ones lol. We don't shoot young bucks we are trying to manage the property and its showing already. We are seeing bigger bucks.
 
Good luck man! I've got a bunch of feral hogs in my spot and the boss has me going to the home office for the opening week of rifle season. Oh and a 5 month old that's driving my wife and I nuts... I'm thinking only my trail cams are gonna see the big one down here in Texas this year (^&*%^$!!) So enjoy the moment and I'll live vicariously through your 2021 season. Keep us posted

I was out at my cousins getting my Malibu inspected and my cousin got a couple already. He was making deer jerky and deer meat sticks. I’m not much of a deer meat person but those sticks were delicious.
 
I've been out a bunch so far and passed on a few small bucks and did see one 10 pointer that was past the ears but no shot. Four day weekend coming up and hopefully put some meat on the table. Good luck out there!
 
I've only been out 5 times this year during our Archery season. It's been so so but may be because it's been warm in NY. That's all going to change this week with highs in the 40's. Crossbow also opens on Saturday. We are also getting hit hard by this EDH crap. My DEC region is the highest in the state (maybe country). 100's of deer dead. I wouldn't worry about that buck. He will forget all about that loud bang when he is chasing does. I'll bet you get another "shot" at him. Good luck to all.
 
Got it done today! I didn't miss this time. Lol
He isn't as big as the one I missed but im tickled to death with him. Made a good clean shot right behind the shoulder and double lunged him. He ran maybe 30 yards before expiring. I hadn't seen but one small doe all morning and around 11am two small does jumped the fence where I missed the one last week and this dude was right on their trail. I shot him at around 165-175 yards

Nice buck!!

Pretty good here in Idaho. Drew a cow elk tag in an area just an hour from home.
Saw 11 bulls, 4 bucks and several does. Got a nice cow second to the last day of the season. Took some weather moving in….

I would love to go on a elk hunt that and moose is a long time dream of mine.

it’s awesome for sure

a friend of mine drew a moose tag in northern Idaho a couple years ago, one of 4 available.

We signed up for spending 10 days up there. For the first week we hunted them like elk. Then my friends cousin who lives there said to jump in the truck and drive up down this dirt road which paralleled a river for for at least 30 miles. We saw several bulls and one monster “For Idaho anyway” @1200lbs

long story short, Moose meat is delicious!!
 
Another missed hunting season for me. One more year of work and I will never miss another season.

Did you draw a 39 cow tag ? I drew 1 of the 25 unit 39 early archery tags a few years ago and got a nice 6x7 Bull .

Here are a few bucks I took in the late 39 archery hunt years back

It bounced around somewhere in the woods lol I never did find a a kicked up spot in the dirt or nothing! I think I may have hit a tree branch
 
I’m not into hunting like I said but I bought another gun today to compliment the S&W 223 AR rifle I bought earlier this year. Merry Christmas to me

Not a bad price! I can't build one for that now. My first ar i built i think I had less that 300 in it. Now they are ridiculous if you can even find the parts. I have 2 more that I want to build and ill be done for a while. Hehehe yea right!? Lol I want a 10 inch blackout pistol and a 20 inch 223 wylde. I want a to do some predator hunting this winter I believe a 20 inch 233 would be the perfect balance. I have several 16" 556s but I want a little longer barrel to get a little more velocity for longer range shots. AND I want the 10 inch pistol because why not? Lol I have a 7 inch 556 pistol and I read all kinds of bad things about them and built it anyway and I absolutely love mine. Its probably the funnest gun I own! It's an absolute riot to shoot! I got a small eotech on it with flip up back ups and its so much fun.
