So my friend recently picked me up this 340 air cleaner for 40 bucks which is a heck of a deal I plan to sandblast it and give it a Fresh coat of paint but wanted to know what the closest color is to the factory Orange. Has anybody repainted theirs and which color did you use? Thanks

That is the correct color, unless you want to change it.

I talked to a friend today with a 1972 Cuda 340. He did his orange air cleaner with paint from Frank Baldason 804 275 2155.

the 1972 Cuda orange air cleaner has the trap door and some early built 1973 Cuda used the orange air cleaners that had the trap door to ( they were just using up the left over stock of the 1972 air cleaners and then they started to use a air cleaner with out the trap door for the rest of 73 production.

there could be other 72 cars that used the orange trap door air cleaners. 1972,73 part number 3614908 trap door model air cleaner, then switched to 3769046 air cleaner no trap door for the rest of 73 production.

I checked around and was told any 1972 car with a 340 came with the orange air cleaner (trap door type) and what I said before about the early 73 340 cars had it to ( till the left over 1972 where used up)
1974 360 4-Barrel and 1974 440 4-Barrel - single long snorkel for B-bodies (trap door).
