Does the fuel vent line actually go into the fuel tank or not. Looked at lots of diagrams and cant say for certain. I,m installing the fuel filler neck on my 66 Barracuda and I know it clips into the chrome sleeve an goes thru the floor pan. Any help appreciated.

Thanks, Tim

Assuming 66 is the similar to 67 (most likely it is) There us a bung on the filler tube where the filler tube bolts to the quarter panel.

The vent tube connects to that with a short piece of tubing and 2 clamps. Then follows the foller neck down through the floor to inside the frame rail.
Like this ( but not necessarrly the same shape )

There may be some looping around on the top end.

It ends below the floor pan. I'm not familiar with early fish, but the Darts/ Valiants the vent tube ends "open" inside the rear frame rail. "I guess" this is for protection from mud, etc

Found this old threads........

'66 Barracuda gas filler/tank

my 67 is open to atmosphere outside the frame rail. I wouldn't want the frame to be full of fuel fumes. Dont connect it to the tank or it will suck the tank closed (collapsed) if the cap seals tight.

It's out in the Open on my '65 barracuda. You can see the FrameRail behind it on the left.

My 65 273 Barracuda is exactly the same as pictured above. I think the only way you could could connect it back to the tank is if you had a vented Gas cap, but don't see a reason to do it if the line is vented to atmosphere.
I previously had a 64 225 and it was the same as well.

Thanks for all the replies. Its been 3+ years since i took the tank out. After looking closer I found undercoating residue which leads me to your answers.

Thanks again FABO members Tim
