Another big "war" with Verizon

The big problem I see with 4/ 5G is the coverage due to terrain. This is sometimes called "path loss" in radio speak. When you get up into frequencies that are often referred to as "line of sight" (and this starts roughly with CB, when the "skip" is not a factor--------the signal loss due to terrain is such things as the moisture present, both humidity and in the soil, the type of terrain and vegetation, and whether or not there is snow

The higher the frequency, the worse this gets. This means, that "out here" in areas where you quickly get "out of town" and into more sparsely equipped backbone, the coverage is gonna get WORSE QUICK. Therefore the phone companies are going to have to actually build MORE sites to have the SAME coverage that the old 800mhz stuff had. But it ALSO means that YOU (I), out there hunting, camping whatever why, are more likely to "fall into a hole" where there is no coverage.

A possible secondary problem, is that since it requires more hardware for coverage, it is more likely that a site will fail, simply because there are more of them. And remember, when I say "site failure" a "site" also has to have a connection to the "network"--whether by fiber, satellite, microwave links etc and THOSE can fail

The last issue is that the U.S. gobt, and the FCC in particular, along with possibly the FTC has done a "zero" job of guiding companies into some sort of "standardization" so that cell coverage (could have been) seamless over sharing hardware.
