Gasoline Octane Suggestions

Ethanol absorbs moisture & cause corrosion with some metals. It might take a liking to Holley's wonder metal, Zinc. Some carby needles & seats are also incompatible with E fuel.
If you buy a new carb it's usually has compatible components.

20 to 25% AV100LL mixed with Shell 91 is what I run in all of mine.

Engine masters just did an episode on octane,87,91,106 and 110 made the same power and same timing requirements, i would use midgrade or premium.

i just watched that episode and it got me wondering if my 440 could take a lower Cali gas octane, currently running 91. I have a 10:1 compression ratio with ~38* timing
Anyone running 87 or 89 without knocking issues?

Run your tank down to a couple of gallons. Add 5 gallons of the lower octane. Drive and see if it works ok. If not add 5 to 10 gallons of the highest octane and drive on.
