So it's been over 20 years since I went through my 340 and so much has changed. I'm asking for recommendations for main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings etc. As it stands now I believe it will be a 374 cubic inch 340. When it was put together it had Federal Mogul mains and cam bearings with clevite rod bearings. It will be 90% street with an occasional trip to the strip approximately 450 horse, what would you suggest?

Tri metal was a hot ticket at the time we assembled my 340 is that still the case for moderate output high performance ?

Food for thought..........if what you had in the engine for 20+ years did not have any issues; why change? Yes there have been advancements made in bearing technology, but there is no magic bullet; what worked well 20 years ago still works today.

I would agree 100% but so much has gone to crap of late I wanted to know about any red flags on bearing quality.

Clevite, Federal Mogul, or Hastings. Heard good things about King bearings but have no experience with them personally. 65'

I like the full groove mains, clevite .
I like acl bearings as well.
Whichever you use just make sure you have full exposure of the oil galleys/feed
