Ballast Resistor

I will be running HEI in my 65 Dart and know I will not need a ballast resistor. To keep a stockish appearance I will be installing one but gutting the resistor inside. So what gauge wire should I use to connect the terminals together? I see the stock wires currently going to the resistor are just 18 gauge. Use 18 gauge or something heavier gauge?

18 IS FINE 20 IS A FUSE.

I would use at least a 16 gauge wire

It would not hurt a bit to go a bit larger. 16................

I used a 12AWG Solid behind my ballast and Pertronix III Flamethrower ignition and Coil. Keeping it original Looking was a top priority!

Best ignition I have used since my Gold Box Chrysler! Wonderful and well hidden! JMO!

It is such a short piece of wire that the gauge is not critical [ to voltage drop ].
