words that irk me

But in a way you're one because you hate gays. What would you do if one of your kids was gay? Would you disown that child and toss them out of your house never to see them again or love them and treat them just like your other kids. Your bible isn't going to change the way they think.

See that's where we disagree

I dont buy that people are born gay, it is a perversion that has its roots in a choice or an action

People have no choice in what color skin they are born with

So it is not the same

As for the Bible not changing my kids thinking..
Why wouldn't it?
It changed the way I think

Speaking of which, have you ever heard of something called "neurodiversity" ?

It is the idea that autism for instance is not a medical disability but simply a case of a brain that is wired different
Proponents of this theory are against trying to teach kids with autism to behave in the same manner as "normal" kids do (normal, there is a loaded word)
Because by teaching them how to behave you take away their identity and make them into robots, or so they say

I’m confused you say you disagree with mark but then in the last paragraph it sounds like you agree with him ???

I disagree with him, but i brought up the last paragraph because i thought it might interest him (with the cousin he just mentioned) and to keep the conversation from falling back into the entrenched opinions

If this is a serious question, it means that anyone who has done, written, or said anything that does not conform with the current standards of the radical left must be destroyed. They need to be fired, banished, defamed and destroyed.
People who did more for freedom than almost anyone who have walked the face of the earth are being defamed because they did things that are not acceptable in the present day. Washington and Jefferson owned slaves, which is rightfully intolerable in the present day. Yet, in their time, it was the way of life. There was little opposition to slavery then, although it rapidly grew in the decades after their deaths. The cancel culture wants their statues torn down, and have it taught they were evil racists whose great contributions were insignificant because of things they did that are unacceptable today, even though it was accepted and commonplace in their time.
There are many examples of this in the current climate. The attempt to destroy people who are currently public figures include Mayim Bialik, Eric Clapton, Dave Chappelle, Aaron Rodgers, Kevin Hart, Brett Cavanaugh, John Gruden and many, many more. Are they perfect? I think there was only one perfect person. Do they deserve to be destroyed for a expressing a viewpoint which does not conform to groupthink? Are they irredeemable because of something done or said years ago? The cancel culture believes so.
This is all around, and is dangerous. More about this can be found through many sources.
If they try and destroy me, is it ok if I literally destroy them as long as there are no witnesses...?

I have noticed that many people answering interview questions substitute "absolutely" for the word "yes". Does not bother me too much, just an observation the word is popping up more and more.

Or starting a sentence with "Like" or "I mean" also the word "Yous" as in both of yous. No such word and hope never will be in the dictionary.
And what's with this speaking up? We were taught that was only used when asking a question

Is that YOUSURY?

How many gay people do you know?

Have you talked with them about how they came to understand they were gay?

I'm not talking about girls who went to Smith college and took "the four year plan" and went back to being straight after their play time at school.

I've worked with a bunch of gay people, and some transgender as well. The gay people knew they were gay as a child, between 5-8 years of age, they knew they were different. I have yet to meet a gay person who had no clue until they were, say, 30. The only people I know who come close, are those who were abused by an older relative, and are struggling with their past.

Transgender in my opinion, are confused, and are seeking attention. I'm sticking to my guns on that one. Or are children of a gay couple, who force their belief system on the child, wether they mean to or not. Only guys wanting to be girls decide they are trans in their adult life, not gay people.

So, I don't agree it's a choice or a consequence of their actions that makes gay people gay.

Have you ever heard of a hermaphrodite?
Here is the meaning: a person or animal having both male and female sex organs or other sexual characteristics, either abnormally or (in the case of some organisms) as the natural condition.

And of course I disagree with you. You don't learn how to become gay it's already engrained in you. I'd sure hate to live in your house if I was one of your kids and was gay.

I never like when someone says "...mind you.." to me not sure what it means I think they are implying I am a dumbass and I get triggered...:D

i have found the definition or use of it .I still don't like it...

informal. —used in speech to give stress to a statement that one is making so that a preceding or following statement will not be misunderstood His advice wasn't very helpful. I'm not criticizing him, mind you.

sounds like it is used like "bless his heart" in the south

I was sitting with a co-worker on break many years ago. I was reading the paper and there was an article about the use of the description "African American". I was good friends with this guy's brother and he knew me pretty well... We could talk about a lot of things. I asked him "Would you rather be called African American or Black"?. He said "I'd rather be called Dave". I've repeated that story many times over the years and as simple as it was, it was a great life lesson for me.

Too often we put people into pigeon holes based on their politics, race, sex or whatever. It's the opposite of what I was taught. More division and less acceptance of people because they aren't like you. Then people are excused (or wrongly blamed) for the bad things that happen.

We are all humans and doesn't matter what colour you are, your sex or preferences when we are cut we all bleed red. If people would all think the same then it would be a better world as we know it

I have always found that if you call a man by his given name you will have his respect. Have seen this with many of my friends that are usually called by their nick names by others

Agree and disagree if we all thought the same there would be no conversation we would be living in a communist type of world. There would be no cheby or ford guys to hassle. If we all liked the same cars and the same women we’d be in a hell of a pickle. So different thinking is what makes things get better no matter how much it irks you

I don't want to put words in Mark's mouth, but my take on it was if we thought the same as to how we treat others, regardless of differences...

Noooooo. They are STRONG and EMPOWERED. They are EQUAL. They fought for it, now they get to keep it. "Gender is just a social construct."
Revel in your victory, ladies.
Revel in your equality, ladies.
Revel in your destruction of your families, ladies.
Ladies, you broke it, you bought it!
Until the ladies fix the damn family courts they can lie in the beds they've made!
Until the ladies fight to get rid of no-fault divorce, they can enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Until there is an end to alimony the ladies can wallow in the ruin of their lives, living under their blanket of cats, drinking their box wine and watching netflix.
Oh, I can't put up the girlie calendars in the shop? Get bent.

I'll be happy when the father gets the right to call a halt to an abortion.

Even if it never does get used.

Do you mean for example the "rapist" that impregnated the woman or even worse a girl under 18 years old???

until they start putting rapist to death for their crimes i see no reason why we should murder innocent babies for crimes some one else committed

but since we are on the topic
i hate the word "pro-choice"

the opposite of life is death (or murder, if you force it)
so the opposite of pro-life should be called pro-murder

Rapist are not put to death so according to you the rapist can force a woman to have his baby??? If it was your daughter I think you would have a different opinion?? You have to walk in the raped woman's shoes before you can make decisions for her.

I would like to believe my daughters would not murder an innocent baby, regardless of the circumstances

I still think that both parents must consent before an abortion can be even be considered.

Of course, if the rapist is convicted and they can prove it was legit rape, I don't think he should be allowed to speak from beyond the grave.

But what do I know....?

I hate "My Bad". It is just ignorant ghetto, urban, minority slang. Admit fault the right way and move past it.
I hate "Just Sayin". It is ignorant, pointless, redundant redneck slang. Say what you mean and own it.
Stop starting sentences with the following: Like. So. I was thinkin. Listen.

Stop ending sentences with: And ****. Know whut I'm sayin? Know what I mean? You follow me? You feel me?
