I called their tech line this morning....he'd been there like 22 some years and had no idea about them and even acted like there wasn't even anything for the regular 5's in there files, but anyway.

This box does have it's own tach output...if this matters or not.
Yes the multi-spark box has to have its own tach out or it'll pick up to 9 'hits' per spark event depending on what rpm its running, 100-3000 rpm is the range of multi-spark.

The 'C' designation is indeed for Chrys. It has the Chrys 5 pin socket on the end of the box, ready to accept the Chrys plug.
The catalog does not specifically say it is CD, but I do not think it is inductive for a few reasons. It has the same multi spark capability as the 6 ign [ which we know is CD ]; it has the same patent number as the 6; the pri voltage is 375v, which is considerably more than inductive ign generally [ ~250v ].

I bought a MSD 5C off the MSD trailer at a NHRA national event in 1994. $75 for the box and a Blaster 2 coil. I used them on a '73 Charger with a 400 for a few years, and took them off before selling the car. They worked OK, but not much noticeable difference over the stock box, if any. The box didn't have any instructions with it, so they sent them by mail. I still have all of it, so here are the instructions. I you'd like the Blaster 2 instructions, I can scan and post them, too.

Kickazz....thanks sir....if it's old stuff/literature then please post it....you'd the man....I try and save pictures of engines....to factory service manual electrical wiring to just plain stuff...you ever need something by all means hit me up...if I can help I will.

I like the idea of saving and those contributing what they have. A library, like Barry Washington has on Hamtramck Historical would be nice. It might be expensive to maintain/administer.

Can you ohm pins 5 and 3 for me for continuity to the ground wire and case? This one seems like maybe they're switched.....all my stock boxes pin 5 has continuity between 5 and the case of the module itself. This box pin three has continuity....makes me wonder if the polarity is different on/to the dizzy's side of the pickup or is there something a miss already with this one?

I did buy a new mds 5C in the 80s. It had a single tach output wire and allowed me to bypass the oem mopar ballast resistor.
Yeh, pretty sure ANYTHING past "5" is a completely different deal. This 5 /5C seems to be a "switched" / inductive/ Kettering system just like the old Mopar box, while anything 6 or higher seems to be MSD meaning, "multi spark CD."

If you are unaware, CD discharges a large charged capacitor across the coil as a pulse, much like a camera photoflash, and there is NO 12V power on the coil. Coil NEG is grounded. You cannot hook a tach to a CD without special adapters or with some provision "in the box" for a tach output. If you move to CD (like an MSD 6 series) there must NOT by ANYthink connected to the coil except the two wires from the MSD box
