There is a tool that fits in the hold-down spring, to make things easy, but the right sized blade screwdriver can work .

Having trouble finding pic of tool

Thanks man. I finally just got a thin bladed screwdriver and got the spring off. I went in between the hub and shoe, is that kind of the correct way to get to it?
