Right when I'm re-motivated to get back to work on the Barracuda, I'm informed I have to move! So, now instead of getting back to work on the car, I'm packing all the parts (and the rest of my house!) to move. ....ugh!!!

The good news is I'm going to BUY a home instead of renting - first time in my life! Then nobody can make me uproot again! (Except the bank if I don't pay!)

The owners want to move in and live in the house I've been renting. ...3rd time this has happened to me in 20 years....I'm sick of it.

Time to buy.....

Jeff

GTFO.
Your $ will go further in other states, plus you will have freedoms again.
You won't regret it.

Didn't you just move recently, around the time you built your tranny? I'm pretty sure I remember you being excited about your garage.

Oh, avoid places with a HOA like the plague. The most I am allowed to do is to change a tire. Fortunately my neighbor is a good guy and won't turn me in like the last one did for swapping a cam. And make sure that you have a decent side yard with a cement slab, or put one in, in addition to a two car garage. Engine stands, extra blocks, hoists, refrigerators, beverages, lawn chairs, and all that stuff need a place to go while you're "working" on the car. And a desktop computer. Laptops just plain suck for research and ordering stuff. And light! Lots of light. And a garage floor with a crown so tools will roll away from the middle of under the car when you drop them. I'm looking at YOU, Mr. 7/16" socket!

Yes....just moved here 3 years ago....
No HOA!!!!!
And I INSIST on a minimum 2 car garage. ...3 if possible.

Buying will be a good thing. Make sure you buy where YOU actually own the house, not some government (HOA, strict township, etc).

The good news: Interests rates are low.
The Bad news: Home prices are sky high.

It's a tough call but I can understand wanting some security

I'd say come to Colorado but the housing prices are absolutely insane right now. And the high altitude gives cars with forced induction a HUGE advantage. Beautiful scenery and nice people though, except maybe if you aren't super liberal and are trying to live in Boulder  that place is wack

^^ Yep!

IMO, it's a tough time to buy right now - especially if you don't have a house to sell. Prices are absolutely insane. At least when interest rates are high, you can always refinance. When you pay a high price for a house, you're stuck with it.

So true. And the houses around here are all going above asking price because of bidding wars. I have been getting cold calls wanting to buy my house in WA for way above what we thought it was worth. I bought a house at a bad time, right before the last crash, and it took years of renting it out at a loss to finally break even. If I would have waited two more years I could have really made out. Kind of have that same vibe today.

I agree....I was waiting for that....but time is no longer an option.....God said "move"!

If you had a van you wouldn’t be in your predicament

I have a '89 B250 with a bed, table, and chairs in it I might let go for a small ransom ! It runs 15.8's too! Remember, housing is up, so is van life too !!! :D
:lol::lol:

Sorry ya gotta move after getting motivated with cuda.
Be leery of buying right now....interest is low, but up here its going up.
These dumbasses overpaying for a house now will be living in a cardboard one shortly. 20% above asking is "normal"
Houses in 400k range go for 500k and sold in a week. Dont get sucked in, good luck.

Stepson is planning an addition to their home. No hurry. They did get a bid for like $180,000 a month ago. Same contractor other day, did come down to $90,000. Something bad wrong there!!
I would continue to shop contractors and wait a yr. or so!!
