Looking at this Speedmaster distributor..
I love the Chevy one wire and this looks the same.. this is going in my Power Wagon so I'm thinking I have the firewall room..

Wondering if anybody's tried one? I doubt it but..
 
There was a specific company that made them for mopars. ...something white

I was going to use a loooooong neck one on a 440, but it still fouled the Trick Flow heads. I have used many of these Chinese HEI dists over the years, on various engines, well made, zero problems. You will probably have to fabricate a stop to limit centri advance, as they have a LOT of advance out of the box. On the cross bar that holds the rotor, you will see two holes inboard of the rotor screw holes. I use 3/16" screws & nuts in those holes to limit the curve. Have the nut facing the top. You will probably have to grind one side of the nut to get the reqd amount of advance. The nut may interfere with the rotor mounting bosses, a little grinding reqd for clearance.
I have also heard of folks welding a stop in place.
 
They clear pretty well in any small block Mopar in an engine bay originally designed to accommodate a big block, like the firewall well in a 1st Gen truck.

I measured over 3 1/2 inches from center of distributor hole to firewall... I don't think it's over 6" in circumference...
I'm probably gonna go all in with Speedmaster... Distributor, wires, mini starter, and 20 circuit wiring harness for $300... With possibly 40% off in a few weeks... And this distributor eliminates the need for a ignition box and coil..

I just ran out and got you some measurements, the base measures a little over 5-1/4 and the widest part of the cap at the hold downs measures 5.9 inches wide. It's too tight to use comfortably in a 1981-1993 pickup but you should be fine.
 
Well, originally $55, but $50 would get it now. The super coil had the case top corner trimmed back and some Ultra Grey smeared on it (It's an E core coil, so no harm done) to get it to fit in a second gen truck. But you can get a little better idea of the overall size here.

I know it would never fit in my Duster..
Not only would it hit the firewall it would not even go in with the tunnel ram...
 
Yes, I’ve never even attempted it with mine. I believe there isn’t anything it wouldn’t interfere with in it. And I can’t complain the least about my orange box I have in place at the moment. A friend gave me a 6AL I’m going to try but I really don’t expect to notice any difference. The Orange Box with a Blaster2 coil is firing the plugs at .043 without issue.
 
I tried to use one in a 1970 w200 with a 318, it would not fit. Looked like tons of room but wouldnt clear the firewall.
 
You may need a cut off wheel and a little creative notching and welding there, too. I know that the firewall in a 1972-1981 (at least I think that's the year you're installing it in) is three layers of steel totaling nearly an 1/8 inch thick. A lot of crash protection engineered in there!

I used the smaller hei distributor in my 88 d250. Also used one on the engine test run stand
 
JMO .... Had a Chinese distributor in our grey van when we bought it. It ran, but inconsistency and just too much I didn't care for... I still have HEI, but it's ran using a Chrysler factory distributor. The HEI just eliminated the need for a ballast and ECU.

Well it looks like I will have to go with the slimmer ready to run no coil distributor..
Now the kick down throttle bracket is in the way..
