ADDING A SURE GRIP

Believe it or not but if you have a factory service manual and read the differential section start to finish multiple times (as if you were in school studying, being educated) it is quite possible to actually understand what’s involved, how to disassemble, inspect, and rebuild what you have. It tells you everything that you need to know, and what tools are needed. And depending on ones skill level, whether they have access to only a few specific tools needed, and/or abilities to improvise tools as needed, it is not as complicated at it may seem. My first attempt (successfully to boot) at rebuilding a 727 transmission was done using only the FSM, and lo and behold my first attempt at rebuilding an open 8.75” adding new gears and a sure-grip was also done with only the FSM for reference. Study and re-read, it can be done with just the FSM, but along with the web, forums like this one, abundance of pictures for reference it’s a piece of cake
