Longtime reader, first time poster on FABO, I’ve been a member on FBBO for some time now under the user runner_jeff.

I grew up in a Mopar family and I work for a Mopar parts company. Always owned Mopars. My current projects are a 57 Dodge Sierra, a 70 Road Runner and this 69 Formula S fastback. I bought this two years ago here in GA. Did a little bit of mechanical work on it and started daily driving it.

By no means perfect, but it’s a great driver!

Thanks!

I put a Holley Sniper on it, ran good, but not great for a 340. My nephew has a 69 fastback with a low compression 340 and it runs much better.

So I got to thinking, maybe some Trickflow heads and a cam swap. Maybe clean up the engine and paint it all. Then I got the itch and ordered a stroker kit, Pro Flo fuel injection and my plans grew into a street monster.

Here is the running engine pulled out.

Funny how that works sometimes....yea I really just want to do this....ahhhh I'm going all the way...lol

Welcome to FABO Jeff! That was a great daily driver before the engine build. It's going to be awesome driver after the build. :steering:

I live right down the street from you in Rome. I've been here 4 years. Have you ever run at Paradise Drag strip? I'd like to take my 66 Barracuda there in the spring just to see how it runs.

Couple pics of the 57, because it was requested. It was body off, temporarily body back on to fit some panels.

Picture when I got it, and picture from 2 weeks ago. Redoing some Rocker panel repairs and then it’ll be “ready” for paint.

Its getting a 5.7 -46RH swap. I plan to drive this wagon a lot.

Back to my engine saga, I tore apart the 340, found multiple bent push rods. Piston rings fell out in pieces. And then I flip it over and see chunks missing from the pan rails and bottom of cylinder holes. Apparently the original owner had some “issues” in the past and had to sleeve 3 cylinders.

I took it down to the machine shop to have it tanked and checked. Sadly, he didn’t think my stroker plan was going to work.
