I am hoping to take my Duster to the strip in the spring. It is BB 383 .030 over, decent cam (unsure of grind but definitely bumpity bump!), roller rockers, 10.5:1, Edelbrock Torker, Holley 750, and fenderwell headers. Trans is 727 reverse manual valve body, 3000 stall converter, 8 3/4 4.10 rear with locker. Tires are 26 inch 9.5 wide tall Hoosier DOT slicks and 4.5 inch front runners. Car weighs 3240. What do you guys think it should be capable of?

Wow, that's quicker than I thought. I would be happy with upper 12's.
I go high 12's with about the same weight of Duster except I have 3.23's, factory stock converter, and a broom stick for a cam (no lumpity lump LOL) and a 360. you'll be much faster

Makes me feel like our old 69 Road Runner we raced in the late 1970's was slow. Comparable 383, gutted out car, 4.88 gear, 727 standard valve body and 12 inch slicks. Don't remember what it weighed but our best was 12.70.

If tuned properly, you might be surprised what the Duster runs for ya....

It will run all of the 10's, 11's and some of the 12's.

Another reference point
3,150lbs, 473hp, 514ft/lbs, 3,500 stall, 4.56 gear, dead wrinkled hook, trapped 6,200 = 11.70's.

Could be anywhere from mid-11’s to high-13’s.

The devil is always in the details.

Just get it sorted out as best you can until it hits the track....... then “iiwii”.

THe Wallace calculator sais 12.40's @109 (wt/hp) a 383 was rated at 335 I believe. Your's has more power because of the cam and headers but how much more? That we don't know.

call it 4 and a quarter and shut the hood.... It also has roller rockers, torker, 750 holley and is .030 :D

What do you think that might add? Roller rockers may be 10 horse? (improvement is usually in the accuracy and not as much about the friction) Torker may be 15? .030 with no increase in compression maybe 10? Just spit balling off the top of my head.

I understand this is all just educated guess work, but I thought you guys with experience to give me a ball park idea, which you have. I will certainly post once I make it to the track. Thanks for all the answers.
I am a road race guy, and have not drag raced since the late seventies.

Seat of the pants makes me think this is about 375-400 hp. One of the last cars I road raced (last year) was 640 hp tube frame Camaro, and this is WAY under that.

Not knowing what the cam specs are, and with the single plane and 3000 stall I’d guess 12.10@110mph.

sure, but hey, 35 ponies !! :) That right der is 370 !!! Now, those fender exit headers and bumpity cam have to at least be 55 hp !! 4 and a quarter, slam the hood and get in the staging lanes !!! :D

High 11's if it hooks and the tune is ideal. Otherwise low-mid 12's at best. Too many variables. MPH maybe 108-109. That shows HP but ET affected by how it launches.

Is the car weight with or without driver? That's about .15 in 1/4 mile ET.

We don’t know the cam or what heads and work was done to them so this greatly effects the possibilities.

Is this car sorted out and running great with no bog or hesitations, and doesn’t run out of fuel After a wide open run for 11-12 seconds? RPM will be up with 4.10’s and 26” tires. This could be quick and fun car when it’s all sorted out and run a lot to discover and fix any issues.

now the variables:
track altitude?
is the starting line prepped good or not.
what time of year January or July?
Does it have mufflers or open fenderwell headers?
Is the car weight 3240 with driver or without?
Does the driver add 140lbs or 300lbs?
Is the cam retarded or advanced?
does it have the right valve springs to run 6000 RPM?

It’s all guesses so I’ll say 13.50 @ 103 to start with.

you wanted guesses, here's mine: low 12's; your suspension or lack there of is your weak point and slowing you down
