I don't know, the idea that all younger people are computer savvy might be a myth. I did learn about computers in school but that was several years ago and computers have changed a lot.

I barely paid attention to computers then and now I just want them to work, but I can't say I know how they work.

How Computers Work:
Think of a Desktop Computer like your Old Mopars

* They are 12 volt systems like your cars
* The power source for the computer is like a 12 volt battery charger, changing 120v wall power to 12v computer power.
* The Memory is Short Term Memory for processing small batches of data, then it sends it down the line to be used.
* The Computer Onboard CD/DVD Player is like the CD or 8 Track tape player in your car. Can install software with it that comes on discs like "Office".
* USB term Universal Serial Bus, is a 12 volt power source you can charge your phone, and a way to transfer files into and out of the computer in digital form.
* Mother Board is the mother that holds all the hardware components circuitry and wires everything together, sending it through the Processing Chip.
* Processor or Chip: the Brain of the Computer
* Video Card: Plugs into the mother board and sends out electronic data to your Display so you can read it in Human Form.
* Cooling Fans: Pulls heat off the Processing Chip as they created enough heat to burn the skin off your fingers.
* Heat Sink: this is the finned aluminum block that sits on top of that Hot Processing Chip to get the heat to the air and then the fans pull it away.

* Mouse and Keyboard, you know, you know.

A basic run down. If you think about it the hardware parts of the computer are a lot like the engine parts in our engine bays. The Software is the written code that tells the hardware what to do for the desired end results.

Staying away from putting on excessive software programs that confuse the computer's brain, is a good simple way to help keep your computer running good.

Have Fun, they are part of our life now weather we want them or not.
