I bought a used Kwik-lift 7-8 years ago and I felt like I died and went to heaven. It would lift my Duster up 20 inches from the bottom of my tires giving me lots of room to climb under. It got to the point it was to heavy for me to build and move around and I don’t like to leave it up as it made my shop to crowded. Now I’m looking at ways to lift my car up 14-20 inches on a budget, light, and easy to store. Have any of you guys ever used “lift blocks” from summit. The 14” ones are 300.00 through the pro shop. This is what I sold. Man I loved this thing.

so the front ramp is fixed and the back pivot is what raises the car? Interesting. Make a cross member in front and affix a winch for us 'roller' guys?

Unfamiliar with those but damn that is nice!

Mine had the extra option that sat between the ramps that you could jack on and raise the car for brake work. I would put it up front where I drilled two holes so I could bolt it down and use a come along to pull the car up if I didn’t have a couple friends handy. Should be a video on the link I posted of how easy it was to use. I bought it used for 1000.00 and sold it for 800.00 years later.

Have you looked into the Quick Jack? I had a Rotary, portable mid-rise, that worked great but never allowed for acces to the middle of the underside of a vehicle. The Quick Jack is what I am looking at. Also considered the Max Jack.

A guy on Yellowbullet recommended the Quick Jacks but I’m trying to go as small and storable as I can. I emailed the company but haven heard back yet. I’m ok with jack stands in the rear.

Do some research on the Max Jacks before you buy.

I have a Quick Jack. It's very well made and allows me to do anything I need to do under car. I'm glad I bought it.

The jackstands are just extra insurance ! They are not even touching.

How is that to work around? Transmission install, removal, etc. is the car shaky at all and how many inches are you from the floor. Can you stop it at any height? Thanks.
It is very easy to work under, wide open access to the underside of the car. It can be stopped at any point in it's travel, but the locks have only 2 positions, about halfway and full lift. I generally use a small wheeled stool to roll around on when I'm working under the car. It is as solid as any 2 post that I've ever used in my days as a mechanic, as long as it is properly anchored to the floor, and the floor is thick enough to support the load. I have left cars up on it for months at a time, never a problem.
My garage has a 10 ft ceiling so I did not see a need to buy a full size lift as I could never lift anything more than about 5 ft anyway. I have read that some buyers found the hydraulic hoses to be of poor quality, but I have been using mine as delivered since 2013. The only minor annoyance I find is having to bleed the cylinders if I have disconnected the lines for any length of time, they have a coupler similar to those on air tools.
It lifts high enough to remove/install transmissions with a typical transmission jack, I have done a few of them, my Bronco was the only one that I had to use blocks between the pads and the frame for an extra 4 inches of lift, which put the roof of the truck a few inches from the trusses. It was one of the best things that I have ever bought for myself.

I believe you drill the holes, and install anchors, just like a normal, two post lift; but, you can unscrew the bolts and roll away the columns, for storage. This is for the Max Jack, by the way. The Quick Jacks, you just slide in and out from under the car, disconnect the hoses, and can store them away. No anchors are needed with them.

That is correct.

I had a set of Quick Jacks for a while, before I graduated to a 4-post lift. They worked very well. There are two lock stops for height, about 12" and 20" IIRC. I stored mine upright against a wall, they don't take up much space. However, they are pretty heavy to manhandle around. They are super stable, no worries at all being underneath them. It's a good product and one I would recommend.

I also have a max jax it goes up 48-50” lock out points 25-41-63”. I changed the fittings because they were getting air in line. Also mounted tank to lift and routed hose over the top to get everything out of the way. Only bought it because of garage clearance. Hope this helps many U TUBE videos out there.

Max jax are out for sure. Weight, size, and my concrete is probably under 4 inches. When you guys say 12 and 20 inches I’m assuming that is from the body, not the bottom of the tires.

Here's my 5000.
1st picture is almost all the way down with additional 1-1/2" (2X4) below the rubber blocks.....

I store 'em standing up against a wall on pieces of wood to keep the wheels from flat spotting.
The lengths of these and lift caps differ. Make sure which model works best for ya' before ya' buy. Home Depot may offer specials on them for BF again.
BTW, You can use these turned 90° as well if you have the spacing/lift points needed.

Thanks for the pictures but that isn’t going to get me where I want to be. Sitting on my 10
inch ramps the body is up around 16 inches. I laid under it yesterday on a creeper and there’s no way I want to work like that having to get in and out like I do for tools and stuff. The creeper can go for sure as I had to buy it after I got my Kwik-ramps to reach everything. A carpet remnant is probably in my future which would be 3 inches lower and still keep me off the cold concrete. The company I mentioned earlier hasn’t responded to two emails so Screw them.

Just a safety note: don't know pressure on hydraulic pump, but that cast elbow is not recommended for hydraulic system. Especially a lift.
