Fuel sender repair

-
The sender wire runs to the driver side kick panel connector so check that connector. The instrument panel voltage regulator also powers the fuel and temperature gauge. I also solder the stud to the brass bar.
So my Temp gauge works fine so does this mean the panel Voltage reg is okay

Have you very temporarily shorted the sender wire to ground to look for movement

There is some movement on the gauge ,when i fill the car the gauge will go to full ,then after 30 miles it will drop to empty

I am coming in in the middle of a conversation. But, I had to scrape the paint/rust/stuff off the tank where it meets the strap and did the same for the strap. Once I did this, my gauge works great now, every time. The windings on the sending unit do not conform to mfg specs, so my gas gauge says almost full when full, 3/4 tank 2 gallons away from full, 1/2 tank at 3/4rs tank, and it reads 1/4 tank at half a tank, can't fix stupid I guess. I don't know why aftermarket stuff is made not conforming to factory specs, but A body tanks are strange, they don't empty like a cylinder would, but empty faster at the first 1/2 and slower at the second half to make room for the spare in the trunk. Not sure if that is perfectly how it empties, but the windings on aftermarket stuff assumes it is a standard tank.

I installled an A100 sending unit from a Dodge van and put some gas in,and the guage went to half full ,not sure how accurate it is but will find out ,at least it,s working

I hope it works for you. Half a gas gauge is better than no gas gauge. I been there. Didn't like it.

Alright! That's great! Thanks for letting us know.

Yeah, I had to get an original lock ring from someone on this site to get my tank to seal. The new ones are way too thin and flimsy to seal.

On my new stainless tank, their lock ring was a good fit. Both seals and lock rings vary in thickness. You do have a lock ring wrench, right? Well worth the price.
