I think I might have found the world's greatest snap ring pliers for removing retaining rings in clutch drums. It should be here within a week and I'll know for sure. Anybody already try these or have recommendations? I used to use a K-D tool but can't find it anywhere.

I found some Snap-ons for $70 with shipping on ebay, but do they have the small recess near the tip like the Wilde's? I got these for $20 with shipping.

Mine have the small recess also. It’s been to long for me to remember how much I gave for them . I would bet those will work real well for you though

The K-D's I had didn't have the recess; just a bunch of grooves that didn't do a very good job of holding the ends in place; slipped off a lot.

Let us know how it works out. Pics would be nice.

..

This thread is useless without pics.gif

Google it if you are REALLY interested...I've NEVER posted a pic on here; and I probably never will...

Maybe this? Doesn't say this is the particular model, just a close up of either the good tip or the bad K-D tip.

Those are lock ring pliers. Snap ring pliers have pin style jaws that's why I asked for a photo.

OP has wrong part number or wrong description. If he's pulling clutch drum rings maybe he's not using a snap ring plier to do it?

With a name like ""TOOLMAN MIKE"...oh forget it. Wrong part number Pista? Still know you're right? Would somebody please ban me to keep me away from these idiots? IF I don't get banned, somebody just slap me the next time I try to help.

Oh now this thread comes up.:wtf:

This morning on Amazon I purchased a pair of parallel jaw lock ring pliers stanley proto j251g for a transmission job. Hoping they work good.

Those are very good.
I carried a half dozen different designs on the tool truck and the one you bought was always popular as well as the one pictured above. We had 3 designs of that one. One with the ear like pictured and one without.
