Engine weights

-
These weights seem odd to me, already alluded to in post #13. Then I look again & see more anomalies...
Dodge 241 Poly is 65 lb heavier than a 241 Hemi?

276 DeSoto Poly is 45 lb heavier than a 276 Hemi?
Those two examples do seem backwards, since you'd think the Hemi heads add more weight.

I wonder to this day how they faked that. Even an empty block and head together would've been too heavy.
My Bro Slugger, and his Brother Tugboat, when they were younger, both Ford Men, lifted a fully dressed small block, cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds, on the back of a full size truck....with a 4x4 and a chain

Plastic…..

I make the same claim. MANY YEARS AGO!!!!!
A 318 into my Magnums trunk.

cast crank in 360 wights less than forged 340 carnk......360 pistons are lighter then 340 pistons....
Don't forget the rods are longer in the 360 compare to the other LA motors, also the bores are smaller in the 360's which would add a little weight. The cranks should be an off-set of somewhat, though the balancers and weights on the TQ converters are heavier on the 360.

What? All small block Mopar connecting rods are the same length.

In the bold…..
Really! In 35+ years of tearing these things apart and every book I have come across, rods are longer, do tell!
LMAO
In the Red….
Are you kidding me? The amount of weight difference in cylinder bore thickness is splitting hairs and… AND you need a sonic checker to verify that distinction for which you’ll find that varies in a block to block and CID scenario. Claiming this is an insanity.

Really? Weights on the torque converter?!

I was selling several fully assembled factory VW TDI turbo diesels, they were complete on the factory install skid. This guy arrives and he's huge like a WWE wrestler. Buys one and I tell him I'll get the hoist, he says no worry and walks over picks up the engine assembly carries it out of the garage and said just open the tailgate.
