Helloooooo FABO!
I am working on the center console of the 67 barracuda and was wondering about a couple things.
1. How does the carpet 'skirt' attach to the console?
2. I suppose I need an ashtray to get the slider door to be supported?
3. Is this rear metal cover do anything but cover? I am hoping to leave it alone as it may be difficult to remove.

AND.....any advice as to install (I am going to make brackets to hold in place) or type of paint to use, yada yada yada. I have read the conversion sticky for tips n tricks, and feel like I can do this!!

The slider door on my 69 is supported by nylon glides, independent of the ash tray insert.
But, have a pic of an eary A interior here.

The ashtray door rides on nylon inserts. You need the ashtray assembly though. The nylon inserts are sandwiched between the console top plate and the ashtray assembly. The ashtray assembly and nylon inserts are not reproduced. As for paint, use SEM Adhesion Promotor and SEM Landau Black. Use the Adhesion Promotor per the directions on the can. Light mist coats of the Landau black and it will be hard to tell it's painted.

The rear metal piece is to just support the carpet.(gives it something to glue to) It's held on with two screws. I took mine off, cleaned it up and threw a quick coat of paint on it. It won't be seen once the carpet is on.

Most of the Mopar console carpet was spray-glued, or maybe sloppily brushed. Contact cement with the brush in the can works fine also.
