Interestin' CHP "real car" 61 Polara --Leno

So cool...you don't realize how great even the regular models ride and drive and how the controls are laid out, the visibility and driving position, until you get to drive one. People just talk about the odd styling, which has really grown on me.

Agreed. I far prefer the wrap-around windows. The A-pillars on modern cars are horribly positioned and much too wide for visibility.

I spoke with Morgan Yates in regards to this restoration as I had just restored a 69 CHP car. A friend of mine owns the other restored 61 Polara.
I'm pretty sure the 383 engine in this car is correct, I don't recall comments about the engine not being correct.
Comments about the cage divider was off, at that time and well into the 90s cages were only on some cars, my 69 had one.
The push bar was introduce in 65

Did you catch the comments in the vid, it was supplied by a special carb as per CHP, as well as the 413 2x 4bbl camshaft

I'd question that, it is those kind of comments that keep the myths alive. My CHP 69 Polara had the standard HP440 with the standard cam, intake and carb as any HP440 would in 1969 yet you hear all the time about the "special" CHP engines, cam etc. The only thing in the 69 spec for the 69 CHP was a HD lower radiator hose and screw down hose clamps. I have yet to see any documentation to support any of the "special" engine features for CHP
