Edelbrock’s New Carb Is The Most High-Tech

It looks kinda cool. For sure a better mousetrap but why not? I understand the added features, they're not terrible ideas. Sometimes things like transfer slot tuning can be tricky so adding a little more adjustability can only help. This carb is sorta EFI lite - it's in the middle between a traditional carb and retrofit fuel injection.

The idea of it being taller is like adding a spacer so there might be situations that you can't even use this thing due to lack of hood clearance but those instances are probably few and far between.

They're probably also betting on the idea that there are enough guys out there that are on the fence about fuel injection but won't pull the trigger because they're stubborn or don't trust it or don't want to spend the coin on the peripheral upgrades. The only caveat with that assumption is that particular segment of the hobby is more often than not less interested in the latest gadgetry, let alone taking the time to get it dialed in perfectly. I'm talking about the cruise night crowd. I talk to these types of dudes all the time at car shows. Most don't even realize I have EFI and when I tell them they look under the air cleaner and still are not sure what they're looking at. At that point I generally get one of two reactions - they either look down their bifocals and say I know how to tune a carbuertor, I don't need a computer to tell me how to do it or they glaze over like a deer in the headlights because they zero idea of how any of it works.

On the cynical side - Edelbrock has had EFI for years now but I hardly ever hear or read about anyone using it over the Holley stuff. They kinda got clobbered on that!
