An electronic type is likely more reliable. The later cars ~1971+ have that, with the triangle connector. You can get an electronic type with connectors for the 1960's cars, for direct hook-up. Some come in a case which appears OE. Most replacements are electronic. If it doesn't have resistors on the back, it is electronic. Best to run a dedicated ground wire to the mounting screw for both types.
