Friggin plug wires! Mopar Performance P4529797

-
Dealership initially wasn't going to help me because the part # started with a P. It didn't take long to get parts Manager involved(all while being polite). Ordered in a 2nd set and got the problem solved. #2 wire is still very snug. No fixing that. Not with these wires anyway.
Due to the coil wire being too short, I "borrowed" one wire from the 2nd set and will cut to fit for the coil.
After all this, I don't even like the looks of them under the hood with the factory red paint lol. Anyone interested in them?
I bought another set(different mfg and supplier)that I may end up putting on.
what did you buy, now? why do you like these better?

I got the wires from local mopar shop. Bonus is the METAL repop shift button! My orig plastic one has all the chrome peeling off it.
I was able to lay my hands on one $55. I thought it would be plastic but chromed metal. Very nice.
Anyway the wires I got are "Standard" brand 9985. Blue Streak? ? Ignore the "EL140" sticker on the box. 7mm
I haven't tried to install yet. I think.they were $50 for.the set.
I'll try them and see.
I don't like the looks of the orange wires with the red block.
If I keep the orange MP set they will go on the 69 barracuda.
#2 wire runs right under carb linkage.

Took the MP ones off. Newest ones look bettet in my opinion. Still gotta route them a little better.
Wish they had orange plug ends.
Difference in length between longest MP and longest Standard

I bought new wires as old ones were 4-5 years old and still in good shape, but one boot on the plug end had torn so I put a mismatched single on to replace the torn boot one.
Ordered the MP ones from dealership. I had to put 2 old ones back on as 2 of the shorter ones are useless and too short. Coil wire too really.
I am NOT about to pull out and rotate distributor drive gear for this!!
Im not playing Mopar Sudoko to finger this out.
I'll leave em installed for now and drive into dealership on Monday to show them.
Figgered Id give everyone a heads up on these.
This is on my 273 with Commando covers and 6 pack coil bracket if you think this would make a difference??
I don't wamt blue yellow green purple or pink wires. I would like a stock appearing set. Any ideas?
Thanks
Steve

I purchased the same set for my 360 in my Duster from Mancini and they sucked . 3 wire to short .

Granted the mp wires are obviously shorter than existing. But sometimes too many short wires reflect the fact that the distributor/rotor may not be clocked "properly"

Go back to the dealer and order another set use what u need , then return the short set. Kim. U need 2 sets to make 1 lol

In all fairness, you're not "sticking it to Chrysler FCA", they don't care or they would have resolved this long known issue YEARS ago. They'll just resell to one of us brethren who will have to deal with it.

Case scenario: I would hate to see the poor schmuck who winds up with that set from "that place" in New Hampshire trying to get it straightened out!

I grabbed a set of those for my 340 last May. 45 bucks, rock auto

The 273 never had orange wires, did it?

....and talk about thread back from the dead. lol

Not sure if 67 had red or black boots, but I know the wires themselves were black.
Always like seeing old posts come back from the dead. The dealership came good for them and I highly doubt they would be resold. Probably be on the quarterly "destroy" list from Ma Mopar. I worked for CAT. Had to send pics of destroyed warranty parts/pieces.....run the forklift over them. Occasionally a loader/backhoe when one was in the yard:lol:
just to make it complete i "liked" @4spdragtop 's original post :)

Me too! On a lot of these forums, posts get deleted over time. At least here, they cam come back up and we can reignite the argument all over again. LMAO

I agree about the bulk wire. That's how we used to do it when I was a kid. THe local parts house had plug wire on spools. We'd just go get X feet of plug wire and the ends and make our own up. That's how everybody did it before the ready made sets came out. Summit still sells it by the spool. Here's 100 feet of 8mm for a little more than a good ready made set.

You ain't ever bothered me. dork. lol
Well, when I get advice to " Stop the Insanity, Now!" I feel like I'm getting free Mental Health advice! Lol just kidding... Beautiful how God does things...one door closes, and another opens. The Gal and I scored a Lil job that would have kept us Rolling till the end of Jan.. hourly.. but the Jeep being crashed ended that. The Guy actually gave us a week! Cool of him. So I lost that one.. then An investor called me, to do a house in Winter Haven, so put the Clutch in her 94 Jap Bowtie, (remember, I posted here for help) been sitting so long the tag lapsed ( she came to visit and got stranded, lol) finished that yesterday. Got 19 doors to pick up. An Isusu Amigo ain't gonna cut it. The At Fault Drivers Insurance FINALLY called today bout a rental... for an extra 4.88 a day ( outta pocket) I scored a Chebbie Colorado. And BOTH are a really Big Blessing right now...Another Blessing was, believe it or not, Sherwin Williams! I went in the local to get some paint for another job, they had me fill a Credit App. My First Commercial Credit acct! So I was able to " Juggle" some things and pay the electric.. heck , I got better paint, without going to Home Depot and standing inline...called it in. I'll pay them outta the profit.. Hope You and Kitty are doing great!
