Finished sanding my 72 dart. Used 80 and 120 grit paper on a da sander. What weight paper should i use before i prime it?? All paint is removed now.

Im assuming your at bare metal and going to use epoxy or a direct to metal primer. I do all mine work in the 180 to 220 range
Then spray away

If you are at bare metal, use Epoxy primer. It will not only protect the metal, it will provide a great base for body work. Filler can be applied right over epoxy that has been scuffed with 120 ir 80. After body work, Sand epoxy leaving it at 120 or 220, and then apply high build primer. Then apply guide coat and block sand with 220, 320.

What is the reasoning for the high build primer than guild coat??Never painted before so it is all new to me.

Guide coat is just that a guide to show you the low spots. The high build is used to get the panel flat. Just Google high build and there are great videos that explain.

I went to bare metal with 80 on a DA then Epoxy then filler and high build - sand high build sand some more. Than epoxy reduced used a sealer. Base then clear. Never painted before. Did most of it in my garage, but sprayed the base and clear in a booth. It's not perfect but I'm proud of it.

THANK YOU pk70. By sanding after the various primers you remove any dust etc. correct?

Yes a clean surface is best. Plus you dont want to accidentally scratch your paint or primer with dust particles

Yes, grab some tack cloths. Also what is helpful is wax and grease remover on a each panel after blocking. Take a light and look for the light to "wave" then you know your panel isn't flat. It will mimic the clear coat.
