So I'm in the process of rewiring my '64 wagon, and the rear plate light is nothing but a smashed up empty socket. I'm surprised I've never been pulled over for it in almost 5 years of driving this thing around.

What is supposed to be there? Are they reproduced? Does anyone have one? Or do I have to invent something?

I believe they are the same as the Valiant. I will look and see if I have an extra

I found myself in the same situation a number of years ago, and couldn't find a replacement at the time. Made a flat plate out of scrap aluminum that would bolt to the factory holes, and drilled the center of the plate to accept one of these:

(RockAuto pic, but available locally just about everywhere, cheap.)

Worked fine until I recently found a good housing in a junk bumper.

Thanks Professor, that's what I'm thinking I'll do.

I was hoping maybe someone would have a picture of the factory part or tell me it's the same as a c-body light or whatever.

Here's what is on the Valiant...

It mounts under the bumper into two slots. Two-piece light; the lens and the bulb socket. Wiring comes down from the trunk through a rubber grommet

Ahhh, so I should have something that mounts to the bumper? That makes a bit more sense.

Does the plate mount to the body? Mine does, but I don't know if that's correct.

Here is one that I don’t believe is correct as I can’t put my hands on the one for my wagon right now to compare them.
