defroster hoses

IIRC the autoparts store hoses are fine but one end will not be the correct size, you have to add a spacer ( some have used the heat shrink hose clamps on the heater box before putting the hose on)

I cut the first three of four wires with dykes, slip it over the snout and zip tie that beeotch. I ain't payin 50 bucks for a pair of "correct" defrost hoses. lol

Your paying 10 bucks for the hose and 40 for the 2 adapters

But unless you are 20 the $50.00 hoses will out live you. ( So will the $10.00 hose for that matter)

Personally I would go with the size hose that fits the heater box and make an adapter for the dash vent end.

I used electrical tape and taped the crap out of the hoses on the dash vents. They'll be there in 100 years. fffff spendin money when you ain't got to. On something "correct" that you caint see? puhhhhlllleeeezzzzeeee. lol

Theres cheap and there's correct. Rarely do you get both! To each their own

Its the heater box ports that are different sizes. That is where adapters are required.

I get that, but I would rather not see the adapters or a 2.5 hose on a 2" outlet.

Just me 2 cents

Keep in mind that "correct" original hoses were belled on one end.

There is no room between the outlets on the heater box for adapter, barely enough for the two hoses.

I have many ,Many hoses I saved from all types of cars. AC hoses are a different material and do no tear they are more flexable. Go to a easy-pull salvage yard . I am sure you will find hoses that fit.

Removing the old hoses is when they usually get ripped from the clips that hold them in place. There is a trick to removing them. Also if you do get them off in one piece. Go to an arts and craft store and get a spray can of flexible coating.

Old hose can be repaired with Paper and Dope used to cover fuselage and wings on model airplanes. works great did many.

If you aren’t worried about originality or comments from people at car shows opening your doors and crawling up under your dash only to deride you for not having the correct hoses you may be able to use these:

Preheat and Hot Air Components - Free Shipping on Orders Over $99 at Summit Racing

I found these at Oreilys (iirc) to replace the rotted defrost hoses in my 67 Van. Easy to cut but also compress and stretch to length needed. Looked correct and worked perfect

Right you are! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

None of those aftermarkets are "correct" anyway because of the bell. And if I ever run into the clown that designed that AND the 2 different feed sizes coming from the box, we're gonna go around. You can explain ALL you want but it's still nonsense.

I bought the Detroit Muscle set and I will be darn if I can get the hose pushed on the drivers side outlet, barely any room for your hand that is now scratched up. Frustrating it is.
