1969 Barracuda Value.....

It has the original 318 and also comes with a good 340 core engine. I asked him about the brakes and floors, but it’s from Nebraska so I’m guessing it’s pretty solid...was in a dry barn for 35+ years...guy wants $7k for it...I was hoping the price was fair and judging by the replies it seems like a decent buy for my friend...thanks!

Yea I miss the cheap and plentiful cars from decades ago. It was fun back then. Easy to find and buyers were active looking for rides.

The supply is drying up... I guess back in the NE still a lot of cars and people with $$$$.
A good Duster project slant or 318 cars not long ago used to be $1500 for a decent project. Junk is twice that today or more. But they don't sell either and the fools that have then figure it out after a few months.
I used to never call on stuff stupid high. Now I just send an offer and say, keep my number in case you decide to sell.

Sounds like you are in the ballpark. Need to go look at it and evaluate the body condition and condition of expensive to replace repair parts.

the 340 is a plus. Another plus would be the 340 having good manifolds, OE carb.

If floors frame trunk solid and all the parts are on the car (underhood AC parts) hopefully grills are not broken then 7k seems good. My car has its interior optioned like that they are nice interiors when done and not many '69s had high option interiors like that. Note: in '69 fold down back seat was extra cost option unlike prior years....

As a reference my 70 Swinger 340 , I paid a grand for it in 1993 with 340 and a spare 340. I miss when these cars were cheap...
I paid $1,000 for my car in 1979. It had 49k miles on it all stock orig 340. But those days and prices are long gone.....

Quite honestly in 1979 that's a good deal but not a great deal. Many of them like that weren't going for much more than that.

It will cost a small fortune to make it presentable, not a full restoration. Labor of love to the buyer.

seven years ago I bought a 69 Cuda 383 four speed fastback 70k actual, rust free no dents, complete, needing paint and rebuild of the engine. $7,000. today? 15k+
In 2016 my challenger sxt plus was 28k new, now they offer 31k right now just to get it.
money today is not worth what it was then. The more the Govt hands it out, the less it is worth.

the bad news is, it will only get worse,,,,,,

Unless something changes, we won't be able to afford the gas etc to drive them. Hang on to your hats boys.

First any fastback cuda is a premium car. And with a 340 (not a 360) it adds a lot. I realize it’s a 318 car. Looks complete. And from the slant 6 and 318 darts/dusters I’ve seen on here for sale it’s definitely a bargain. Buy it!

The key to projects is not just price but what you are getting for that price? How solid and strait is it? What parts are missing. Cuda? Grill is a biggie just like 2 nd gen Charger grills, etc.
I usually figure $10-15000 on average for all work "except" paint, ie mechanicals, interior, suspension, incidentals, like tires, exhaust. That is you doing all the work and shopping with a keen eye. NO exotic stuff, strokers or $2000 trans included!!
Example: Makes a difference if the local guy bends your exhaust or you pay $1000 for th fancy exhaust shipped to you and you then pay someone to install it!!

Keep us up to date if your friend buys the car.
