I refuse to sand a car for paint unless a scuff and shoot. Every A-body done here all the exterior paint on the panels is removed chemically. Leaving all of the original metal on the car except for rusted metal. Places where there is rust we use a fine crushed glass. Blasting sand is another deforming material. If you ever watch blasting with sand at dusk it looks like a flame thrower.

Getting rid of it is easy. 80 on a orbital sander and create some heat and the crispness of the line disappears. I owned so many of these Darts original and repainted and have seen the destruction of that line. How many paint shops do you know that would tape that line and sand to it. Just like the lines on the sides they just sand and round them off. Looking down at the hood while sanding you don't see that line.
