Been following him on youtube for years. Good guy, very little ego in his videos

I don't follow anyone, but I come across them. Probably watched 75 of his videos, I agree, very enjoyable. I had NO idea a 12 ga slug would hit that far

A guy I worked with said he didn't like slug hunting, couldn't shoot far enough. His dad was telling him he was wrong, and needed to practice, and that the last deer he shot, was 150 yards away. The kid couldn't shoot past 60-70 yards, it was all in his head. Me, I can't shoot for squat, up close is all in good for. I just don't have the room to shoot long distance, but I'd love to.

My wife's dad was an excellent trap and skeet
shooter he's in the Minnesota trap shooting hall of fame.
He was a fighter pilot in ww2 it was part of fighter pilot training. It helped them to lead planes they were in dog fights with.

I know slugs are a different.

My wife told me a story when they went to a family outing at a local restaurant the waitress they had was a trap shooter too and knew my father in law. My wife's sister's first husband asked the waitress if he was a good shot. She said I wouldn't want him shooting at me.

A simple . 22 can travel 1 mile. Elmer Keith used to shoot revolvers to 600 yards accurately. Theres a lot of weight and momentum involved with those projectiles. Practice makes perfect

Victor Avila Sets New World Record For Longest Handgun Shot
Victor Avila Sets New World Record For Longest Handgun Shot
RENO, Nev., Sept. 17, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Victor Avila set a New World Record for the longest handgun shot on Wednesday July 29, 2020. He scored a 2,010 yard shot on a ELR target with a 10mm handgun. In addition, he scored multiple shots on a 1650 yard ELR target with a Glock 23. Victor used 1Shot Systems from USA1SHOT and several optical systems designed by Robert Gilmer and Jim Olson. C. Sawyer, the current World Record holder, coached Victor during the 90 minute shoot. Victor made all the shots from a standing offhand position.

The ARENA competition was started this year in Northern Nevada to demonstrate just how accurate handguns can be when used with advanced technologies. USA1SHOT and EOTECH have been leaders in this technology that began as a quest to reduce the number of rounds fired in officer-involved shootings. Robert Gilmer of USA1SHOT says that if he has to shoot more than once, he has made a mistake. Jim Olson and Robert Gilmer decided to work together to create tools for handguns that would reduce errors and increase safety. The results are revolutionary.

U.S. Special Agent Victor Avila (Ret.) is an American hero who spent his career combating human traffickers and drug cartels. He is currently running for City Counsel in Southlake, Texas. Victor accepted the challenge of the ARENA and set a new World Record. Look for the fall release of "THE ARENA", a UIMAGINED Production, featuring competitors from Law Enforcement, the Military, and the firearms industry. Video does not give up much............

I've always heard and read that slugs tumble. I think he just dispelled that myth.

^^I've seen tests where they do..........Might depend on the slug design or hell, even the barrel

I thought the tumble didn't start untill after it pierced tbe target

(Watch some videos of people shooting ballistic jelly)

The tumble can vary. There are rifled slug barrels and rifled slugs for smooth bore barrels. Range is still limited compared to any rifle but you get the idea.

Did you know he is like 6' 6" tall.. He is a big guy. His hands dwarf a 45.

Im not sure about tumble. I have an AR that has many thousands of rounds through it. It is basically "shot out". With cheap Tull ammo it will "key hole" the 15 yard target and yet it can punch nice holes at over 100 sometimes. So just what and why some rounds tumble and some dont I have no idea.

:)

I did not. But speaking of .45, I bought one of these because of his review. It's fun. And after several hundred rounds it has run without a hick up.

I've got my Dads Colt 1911 Navy he used in the Korean war. You couldn't pry it out of my hand for any amount of money.

Well, regardless of the tumble argument, the slugs in the video posted were NOT tumbling.
