better fuel economy from 360 vs 318? I've had plenty of both and have never found that to be true unless the 318 is somehow "hurt" and the 360 isn't.
I’ve had a lot also. Could be just in the tune.

True It is just a theory however
there were A type available until 1967 (273's etc.. with polyshereical combustion chambers and LA with wedge combustion chambers came on scene in 1964 as a modernized engine. The overlap may be when they marketed the different design (A reference is enginelabs.com mopar small, block etc.. ).
