CRE Stud Gridle Installation Tip
I thought I would share how I install the CRE Stud Gridle on my 512/440.
I use 20 5/16" x 3/4" long bolts and 20 washers to secure the girdle to the block after applying a liberal amount of Black Right Stuff gasket maker.
I then torque the 20 bolts to 120 in lbs or 10 ft lbs. After that I torque the 8 stud bolt nuts to 70 ft lb.
Then remove any excess gasket maker and let cure for a day before installing the pan.
Doing this results in more uniform/even clamping pressure and less chance for leaks.
