Do I absolutely need the intake manifold heat crossover, or can I block it? What is everyone's take on that. I'm getting a new Edelbrock intake, and wondering if I block it or not. I live in So. California. Thanks

Id run it as is. Its a simple gasket with no crossover mod, but intakes like a little heat. I doubt you'll feel any difference on a motor that you would consider a crossover equipped (performer?) Edelbrock intake on.

I say block it. Anything you can do to help cool off the air fuel charge will help.

When I blocked the crossover on my race car using thin aluminum, I always coated both sides with high temp silicone to minimize the chance of burn-through. Might be more important for your long term street use.

Block it! a lot of aftermaket manifolds don't even have them. I think FelPro makes a gasket set that blocks it off. Don't forget to get rid of the valve in the exhaust manifold...

Felpro 1213 doesn't have the opening but doesn't exactly block it off.

I'm in northern Colorado. My crossover spring has not been attached for years. Which equals to the cross over being closed. I have not had an issue even in 20 deg starts.

Block it. I'm in LA area. I don't even have a choke on my old vehicles.

It's December 11 and it was 68 degrees... Local Weathergirl calls it a winter cold spell. :D

When we lived in SoCal my mother in law would chastise me if my kids didn't have heavy jackets on in the "winter" 65 to 70 deg.

Here in Northern Colorado it's t shirt weather if it's 50, no jacket down to 30, light jacket under 20, heavy jacket if it's windy and under 20

Similar climate/temps to where I live. I have blocked off the exh xover in many engines I have built, never had a problem.

I have a couple of NOS intake manifold gasket sets from Chrysler. They do not have the hole for heat crossover. Can it for for marine or industrial use?

If you have an electric choke you will be fine in a warm climate. If you have a mechanical choke it will never open fully.
